Your going to need an external hard drive or a large enough USB flash drive to drag and drop the game files into either. Next, once the files are in either device you will then have to hook it up to your friends PC and load the application inside the game file. Very straight forward bud.

If you happen to have a mp3player (Ipod ect.), a Playstation Portable(need a large enough memory stick pro duo) or a Digital Camera( large enough SD card) you can do pretty much the same as I described earlier bud, so longs you can plug these devices into your PC from a USB cable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but most games must be installed in order to work. Registry settings, program file location, and save game location, settings etc.

Well, you pretty much just answered your own question bud. Where does the encoded data install to? Hard Drive.

External Hard Drive ect. are basically substitutes for the digital media, only the OS ect. is not being installed like a traditional Hard Drive.
