So with the defeault stock and cooler the temps are 47C, with cool and quiet the speed drops at 800mhz and its about 40C or a little less.

When i play games its about 50C, when i play gta iv it reaches 55C or higher, like 58C

The max temp for my cpu is 62C!!!

Is this normal?

If you are worried about temps for any CPU then buy a better cooler. For not much money you can buy a cooler that will drop your idle temps 10 degrees or more. Besides, a CPU running at 60C isn't going to run into too many issues. They are designed to run atleast that hot, and have thermal cutouts to prevent damage if they do look like they are going to overheat.

it's a hot cpu, i have one and i already had an aftermarket cooler, but it still gets around the low to mid 50s (i do OC however). i suggest getting a powerful aftermarket cooler like a scythe mugen 2 (which is the course of action i am about to make, except i am getting a noctua). also check to see if your airflow is good, and try taking off your cooler, taking the thermal paste off of both the cpu and the heatsink, reapply the thermal paste, then put the cooler back on.

edit: also avenger the max safe temperature on the 955 is 62 degrees. this chip is not meant to be hot, yet it runs hot anyway

So i dont have to worry about damaging my cpu if i play gta iv for hours?

How much will a cheap cooler cost me? If a pretty cheap one can lower the temp by 10c then i will get a better one, i need a reccomendation!!!

What case do you have? Your case needs to have excellent air circulation in order to all of your components to stay cool. Also is it possible that you didn't install the cooler or the CPU correctly?

My case is not good, but i keep it open in a cold room, so no big deal. I thought about it too about the cooler so i applied new thermal paste.Isnt anyone here that has that cpu so i can do a comparison?

Well, I'm at 3.8 Ghz, and I only hit 58C when I use Prime95. And that's hot, considering my CPU cooler :? As far as your temps go, it seems about right considering you're using a stock cooler, but it is still pretty warm. You might want to look into reseating your cpu cooler, and also ensuring you don't put too much thermal grease on the CPU.

How much will that help? I found it pretty cheap, thats why i am asking...

The Freezer Pro 7 is THE budget CPU cooler, it costs barely anything and destroys any stock cooler and is nearly as good as really expensive ones.

ok thanks, i something happened, i am running at 2.09ghz with 3.2ghz being my cpu speed. When my pc is idle the speed goes to 800mhz and the temp is 40c, i blame cool and quiet, but now i am running at 2.09ghz when idle and the temp is 38c. Could be the cool and quiet acting up weird with my voltage or something?

i dont think so, if it did it would make it run cooler, not hotter. go into your bios and check you voltage settings and turn them to manual, then set the voltages at the stock voltage of the cpu. even though they should already be at stock voltages, they might not be

I disabled cool and quiet and now the temp is 47-48c when idle, the voltage is 1.35 which is the stock voltage, i read a review that said that the cpu stays verycool when at stock voltage but if increased it heats up.

EDIT: when i disabled cool and quiet i heard no diffirence in the fan speed, hmm....
