Was doing a 1v1 with my friend and it was crazy laggy might have been his ISP. Also when I tried to do a multiplayer match game crashed at loading screen.
Single player works fine :) I think the game is quite buggy though I hope they resolve some issues.
Haven't tried online, yet.
Most of the textures are the same, some have had minor changed.Â
Here's a couple of screens I quickly took to compare, I can grab some more.
EDIT: Not sure how to fix squashed image, open them in new tabs.
Original (with 1080p patch):

Re-release:
Just tried a multiplayer game with two mates. I was hosting the game on my machine and before anyone had even made any units, I was getting ~30 fps and everyone's units were stuttering. Don't have this problem in the original game with GameRanger.has a bad netcode apperently.

Especially with a relaunch...has a bad netcode apperently.

Why making a HD Edition of something where beautiful graphics is the least important part of the game at all o_O
If I feel the need to play it I just grab my old CD and play it, no matter that it is not in HD.
It's still the same but in HD. Water, cliff sides, farms, fire, ground texture are some of the changes that come to mind. I would say you get your moneys wroth for the multiplayer. It was easy to find games and had a fun time playing against other people, with my buddies. And the steam workshop means people will hopefully come up with some great mods. Like somebody said they didn't like the farms look in HD, you can go to the workshop and download the old ones, or in my case the farms from Age of Mythology farms.
It's more re-releasing it for online play and fixing any compatibility problems with modern hardware/softwareWhy making a HD Edition of something where beautiful graphics is the least important part of the game at all o_O

has 213 achievements on Steam, nice. :) Great game, remember the hours I put into it when it was originally released.
Free and Open Source huh? Have you tried it? How do you like it? Any other impressions of AoE II HD everyone?0 A.D. looks better to me.

Meh, I'll settle with the original if I will ever be in the mood again, looks to me that it just has some altered trees and HD TM fonts (seriously? you can't even superscript TM without the forum glitching?).
Changed the farm texture for some reason. Made it look too cartoony, would rather they change it back.

They don't have to, modders already did. You can find them in the workshop.
What I downloaded from the workshop is the 320kbps 44hz soundtracks because the game's music is in 192 variable kbps. Sounds much better.
Age II still probably my favourite RTS before World in Conflict, but I haven't pre-ordered. Price is a little too high. Waiting for the inevitable Steam sale. Sounds like they should do some optimizing.
Nice to see they added a million Steam achievements though.
