Knights of the Old Republic Games (1st one by Bioware, absolutely amazing! 2nd one was rushed and Obsidian couldn't do as good a job as they could have.)

    - Knights of the Old Republic

    - Knights of the Old Republic II : The Sith Lords

Fable (Strictly looking at it as an Adventure game, with role-playing elements)

that is why fallout and baldur's gate haven't been mentioned - because some people read posts

not me, though - get fallout!

really, get vampir the masquerade: bloodlines - it's the best rpg i've ever played, and it is reasonably new and has beautiful graphics - just make sure you patch

Bull. Graphics don't make a game, It's gameplay. Seriously consider Fallout 1 and 2, also Baldur's Gate serious and Torment:Planescape.

perhaps it was his top 10 rpgs relative to the op's request, a sort of preference filter set onto his own preferences

or perhaps NOT

I wouldn't call Oblivion an RPG seeing that doesn't have any at all, just hack and slash with knights armor. If you change number 3 with Fallout, than you'll have good list.

FABLE SUCKS YOUR LIST IS HORRIBLE it shouldn't be on the top 3 of your list  maybe at 9 or 10. I bought fable TLC but could never finished it was so boring. The red box looks good but that's it. Boring gameplay.

Oblivion is awsome, such a massive game with a great story line and quests...  Not to mention everything else is high-quality: graphics and AI are the best I've ever seen in a game, tons of items, little bugs, good combat system.

Absolutely great game.

Get a grip. Fable is ten times better than Gothic 3. I don't think I've ever played such a lame game. For those of you who listed it as a good game, answer me these questions. What kind of game has an AI that allows a low level chacter the ability to wipe out a camp full of hvly armed orcs, while they stand around and watch you kill there buddies one by one untill it's there turn to die. They won't gang up on you, they fight one by one unless they have a crossbow, in which they usually miss you cause you're always moving.

Speaking of always moving, Why must our chacter always take a step when swinging? Funny I've taken fencing and medival combat, messed around with the SCA. The only time you get take a step while swinging is to get more power, but it is not neccesary. In the game you have no choice, you must step foward, even if it's off a very large cliff to your death! The combat and AI are some of the worsed I've ever had the displeasure of playing.

Here's another one for you. How can someone good enough to kill a troll somehow lose to a oversized bee? These are the wonders of Gothic 3. There's alot more BS I could go on about, but I wont. If you are desperate enough to buy an oversized crappoal game, then Gothic 3 should fit your bill, enjoy. If you want a good game look somewhere else. The only thing good about G3 is it's size and the ability to go anywhere.

The graphics aren't bad, but still has too many bugs even patched. I'll mention one bug cause it really pissed me off. Creatures can attack you from under ground. I'm not kidding. You can be standing on a large rock attacking by bow some creature. It will then charge you and go into the rock you're on an kill you from below. You can't hit them cause they're in solid rock. This happens all the time. There you go. Enjoy or not.

Well if you look at the the one that created the top 10 ten list..It's apparent he got into PC rpgs a little later.

Since Jade Empire and Oblivion are on his top 10. I am sure if he played the Baldur's Gate Series or Fallout Series when they were out, it would be on his top ten.

Not even sure if he has played them.

I am currently playing Baldur's Gate 2: SOA for the first time. A little overwhelming but pretty good at the moment.

Honestly if you want a quality RPG you shouldn't expect the best graphics you've ever seen, as most of them were released a few years ago. It's not like they are ugly, though, games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape:Torment and Fallout definitely have beautiful artistry, even with the limited resolutions they have. And if you don't think they do, then you're just a graphics whore. That being said Vampire Bloodlines looks pretty nice, and, most importantly, is a great game, period, so if you really want pretty graphics in your RPG that'd be the game to get.

I played Fallout, Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment, but they're all very boring. The main reason that I don't like them is because there's very little voice acting in all of them and lots of text. If I wanted a book I would buy one, not a computer game because I want it to be more like a movie. Secondly, I hate that their camera is like in a strategy game. The only good thing in these games are their stories, but that doesn't make them better than the games on my list because these games have great graphics, superb sound AND excellent stories. Also Fallout's combat system was the worst ever. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn takes the 11th place on my list and Planescape: Torment takes the 12th.

I have heard of all this games. Fallout, Baldur´s Gate etc.

My friend just likes newer graphics. When I recommed Icewind Dale 1 he said:

- Has it great graphics?

It´s so sad that he doesn´t like older games, because the older games are much better.

Another version of my toplist:

1. Icewind Dale

2. Baldur´s Gate 2 / Icewind Dale 2

3. Baldur´s Gate / Neverwinter Nights / TES 4: Morrwind

(4. TES 2: Daggerfall)

Dark Mesiah of Might and Magic has very good graphics.

The story is decent (no great) like most of the others mentioned. The combat is interesting, as it is based on a physics oriented engine that allows you to kick opponents onto fire or spikes, throw cartes at them so they fall off a cliff e.t.c.

Yeah, I got into PC gaming late in general....I played Diablo 2 years later...and got addicted to it... I really don't mind the text and older graphics. It seems he does. 800x600 I can live by. But anything lower is a killer....currently playing the The Longest Journey at that lower res...and ugh its all Jaggies...and there is a bug if I increase the AA. The voice acting is fantastic though..so I am continuing to play.

I would suggest Siege of Avalon, which was really cool, even though I never finished it, and Nox, which is more adventure than RPG but it's really cool. Playing as any of the classes is fun, but I think playing the wizard is best :) Lots of people suggest the big BioWare hitters, so I thought I would add some different games into the mix.
