For those of you who haven't heard, there is a game in development by the indie dev team Gears for Breakfast called A Hat In Time.  The special nature of the game is that it is a 3D exploratory collect-a-thon type game much in the same vain as Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64.  What has me so excited and hopeful for this project however, is how far along the project appears already, before the dev team has received even a cent from their Kickstarter, which is currently 410% funded.

Insane I know, but they have tons of awesome stretch goals that they're planning if they keep getting more money, and they are.  This is shaping up to be quite the popular indie title and I would personally love to see them reach all of their stretch goals.  This game has the potential to be like an asteroid impact to the world of indie games if it gets the attention it deserves.  Frankly, I've been hurting for the days of old when games were charming and genuinely fun to play and explore.  For all I know, this could be a major return to form, at least at the indie level.  Feel free to check the game out on their Kickstarter below and if you like it, come back here to gush about the nostalgia and whatnot.

Backed the project as soon as it went live. I hope they now have the chance to make a really polished experience.

Game is going to be good, I appluad the team for not being the typical indie where they just make another generic 8bit 2D side scroller

Haha.. I despise that song because they kept playing it during the NBA finals commercial break... I hate Miami Heat and LeFlop. :P

[QUOTE="Elann2008"]Looks cool.

not to bring up TW2 here, but this is a dev team of less than 10 guys making a platformer, and they managed to have better lock-on than TW2 (check 0:34). just... ugh. i'm still not over the disappointment of that combat fix mod.

Whatta shocker! An indie game that is not in 2D?! Almost makes me want to support it, unfortunately my list of unplayed games is far too long and I'd rather spend the money on purchasing Wind Waker which I have yet to play

The Kickstarter for this game is now at 530% funded and growing.  This is one to watch people.  It will probably be big news all over the net very soon.

That's good news. I definitely sensed the Mario vibe from the gameplay video. Lovin' it so far.

The team has just reached a very interesting stretch goal for their Kickstarter.  At $150,000 of funding, the dev team, Gears For Breakfast, has enlisted the help of Grant Kirkhope, a legendary composer that is responsible for making the unforgettable tunes for Banjo-Kazooie (and Tooie), Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, and even Kingdoms of Amalur, to make a theme song for one of the chapters in the game.  Very cool stuff.  I am comfortable in admitting that I nearly squeeled with joy once I learned of this.

Hopefullythis encourages more indie devs to try to make these types of games, every indie game seems to be a 2d sidescroller or a first person defenseless horror game.
