Is it worth the $100 extra to get the 640mb 8800GTS or should I just stick with the 320? I don't need to run super high resolutions but I would like to get max settings on reasonable resolutions.

If you aren't playing at uber resolutions, you should go for the 320 model. And if you want better performance thanstock, you could get a factory overlocked model, which will perform better than a standard 640mb model at lower resolutions + it's cheaper :D

They perform pretty much the same, unless you play at high resolutions with max AA.

In SLI 2x320MB 8800GTS.

It is a little bit better than a single 8800GTX

I have a Dell 2007WFP that supports 1680X1050 but some of the games I still play (BF2 I think) don't support wide screen so I end up using 1280x1024 or really 1024x768 since that's what my current 7600gt can take. The 8800GTS 320 sounds like it's a better deal but will I then not be able to run 1680x1050 in games like CS:source and BF2/BF2142? I'd at least like to max out these games since they're a little older.

Even though your not playing at crazy res the 8800 GTS 640mb is way more future proof and will last alot longer. It just has that extra oomf! frizzyman0292

By that time, there'll be better cards on the market that can offer superior performance.

Rule of thumb: Anything below a 22" monitor, go for the 320MB version.

yes but inevitably games are going to require more oomf than a 320Mb card can handle, so in that way it is more future proof...........even if he is not gaming at massive res. but i guess by that time another generation of cards will be out and he will probably have upgraded anyway.
