So I just ordered parts to build my new rig, but since I prefer consolegaming I don't want to spend to much money on a gfxcard. so I thought I'd look for a 2ndhand card. So now I can get a 285 gtx OC for 70 euros or 2 8800 gtx's for 50 euros each. I could also get 2 8800 ultras for 130 euros but I don't know if there would be that much difference with the gtx. I could also get a 4890 or a 4850x2 for 90 euros. have no clue wich card could give me more bang for my buck. I haven't built a pc or followed hardware developments since 2007 when I had the 8800 gts. So could you guys help me out a bit ?

I would try to get yourself something just a little newer. You can get like a 6870 for only £124 from overclockers.co.uk, or even a 5830 maybe would last you longer than the cards you are looking at.

Here is a 460 for only £120, only £30 more than you were going to spend, and this GPU will still last a while and play DX11 games. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-092-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1830

The 460 obliterates the 8800 Sli, but slightly beats out the OC'd 285. With some overclocking, it'll surpass the OC'd 285 by quite a bit. Not to mention it's quie a bit newer.

It's worth shooting for a GTX 560/HD 6950 if you can, they're both excellent deals at the moment.

go for the radeon 6850/6870/geforce 460, all of which are decent cards. I didn't know that the 8800 and the 285 were still being sold in stores but I wouldn't get either, since they are not power efficient compared to todays cards and are less performance.

Avoid the 5830. Get the 5850 instead.

An ancient artifact that can still run most newer games at medium to high settings. Truly amazing cards.
