Buying a desktop for the first time in years. Do some light gaming (Starcraft 2 & Diablo 2 - Will possibly be playing Diablo 3) and other than that just internet browsing and Microsoft Office stuff. Also I'm looking to buy an hp system with one of the above cards and: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 quad-core processor with Turbo-Boost [up to 3.8GHz, 8MB cache]. 8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs] Which would you go with?

The radeon is faster. But the rest of that system is overkill for what you want to do, even heavy gaming doesn't need that powerful of a CPU. Most of the people here would tell you to build a system yourself, but if that is not an option, these would be great choices

for a bit heavier gaming this would be a lot better

Ok think i have a little better idea of what I need.... How about this for $800 AMD Phenom(TM) X4 840T quad-core processor [2.9GHz, 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz] 9GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs] 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6570 [DVI, HDMI. VGA adapter] Switching to 8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs] subtracts $30 Switching to 2GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 530 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter] adds $20 Switching to Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 quad-core processor [3.1GHz, 6MB cache] adds $100

The GPU, still sucks .... minimum gpu for gaming would be Radeon is ethier 5670 or 6670 Just go with one of links post by myself or others, you will get a better deal.

I dont know about nvidia 530, but you should be fine with 6670 if you only play games likesc2 at resolution under 1920x1080.

i have 6670, and my frame rates at sc2 with high to ultra setting and 1600x1050 is around 35-80 fps depending on how many units are on the maps.

However, if you plan to play first person shooting games like crysis2 at 1600x1050 or above, you need a better card.

dont worry about blizzard and valve's games, they are usually well optimized, unlike most buggy pc games, and they dont need a powerful pc to run it. If you are a light pc gamers like me (i only play rts games and few mmorpg) on pc, then 6670 + i7 2600 should do the job well.

i5 + 6570 should be fine at med-high setting in sc2.

6570 is faster than 5670 but slower than 6670.
