Anyone else super excited about this? I know I am, after seeing how sad a fight AMD has been putting up, mainly because of crappy marketting. Intel will probably rip nvidia apart with the amount of cash they have. AMD will feel a blow back too, but since their marketshare is much smaller, they have alot less to lose.

Overall, gamers will be the real winners in this new war.

Im not interested unless they can beat the 2080 for a cheaper price.

I'm excited about it!

Chip stacking sounds interesting. How do you cool it though?

Otherwise why not just make crazy dense compute cubes?

As long as it brings in competition towards Nvidia, I'm okay with that and I'll probably will remain with Nvidia due to they have what I need.

Yeah this is great. Need more competition, and AMD sure is not providing it.

Don't get me wrong AMD makes some great products but as far as competing with Intel and Nvidia, not so much imo

I've always bought what was cheaper, never bought into the nvidia hype. I admit that at the highest end, AMD gave up on that fight. The flagship cards AMD doesn't even compete with anymore, ie the 2080TI has no real AMD counter, but AMD does offer something at every othe performance bracket, 1080ti and below. I guess the reason is that people don't buy AMD cards regardless, so it doesn't make sense for AMD to invest in the highest tier. Whatever the case, Intel will definitely not get pushed around by the likes of nvidia. Its going to be a blood bath...i'm hoping intel doesn't flop on this like they did with their older larabee GPUs.

It is a need for this so I hope they have some excellent top tier cards. Nvidia is charging too much these days.

they will demolish nvidia. Intels pockets are about 100 times deeper. The only question is whether or not Intel has the determination to go all the way. They make so much money off their CPU business, the tiny GPU market isn't even a consideration for them. If they flop at the first attempt, the loss will be nothing for them..just a small write off, which is what happened with Larrabee. If they stick to developing their own GPU branch and are persistent for a few years, they will stomp on Nvidia. Since nvidia has been getting uppity recently, I think intel decided to lay the smack down on them. I welcome Intel with open arms.

It's just another RTG team at Intel.

AMD's "fat" GPUs are stuck with the basic Hawaii design i.e. quad rasterizer (mass floating point to pixel integer) and 64 ROPS read-write units design.

R9-290X was last GPU that increased Shader Engine horizontal count before Raja "Mr TFLOPS" Koduri joins AMD during 2013

Fury added the following

  • 1st gen delta color compression
  • horizontal FP16 compute
  • 20 extra CUs. !!Should have increased Shader Engines count, hence increase rasterizer units.!!
  • Four stack HBM v1

Vega added

  • 2nd gen delta color compression
  • Double rate FP16 compute
  • ROPS being connected to L2 cache
  • Triangle binning (early triangle culling)
  • Two stack HBM v2
  • High Bandwidth Cache (below L2 cache, hence slower)
  • Higher clock speed

Vega II added (what's known from anandtech)

  • Four stack HBM v2
  • Higher clock speed

Nothing to addressed quad rasterizer bottleneck when GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2080 has six raster engines.

I blame the lack of Shader Engine horizontal count on Raja "Mr TFLOPS" Koduri.

Sounds like "Mr TFLOPS" stack chip hype.

Raja Koduri = "Mr TFLOPS"

Since there's not much competition to Nvidia, I'm interested in what Intel has to offer.

They'll go after AMD. Nividia is a target beyond reach for now.
