hi i want to buy one ssd drive of 1TB my question is which ssd to to buy?

i mean there 2 types of ssds

NVMe and the normal ssds

what is the difference between these 2 kinds of ssds??

and which ssd are you sugested me to buy ? i want 1 TB

they are saying that ssd samsungs are very good is it true?

Unless you move massive amounts of data from one medium to another. You are not going to "see" difference between a good SATA SSD vs PCI-E based SSD.

I really like the Samsung Evo's can't go wrong there in my opinion. I have been using them for years. I am running two in my current rig, 500Gb for the OS/App/Programs and 1Tb for games. An old school spinner 2Tb drive for files/music etc.

@yhyyy: There's 3 main types at the moments. SSD sata's which are your typical SSD, M.2 Sata which is runs like a typical sata HDD but though a M.2 port. They both run at the same speed. And the NVM which runs though the M.2 port and is a little faster than you're typical SSD.

I would recommend the M.2 either samsungs 860 or 960 (NVM) there is a bit of a price difference though between the 2, I've got the 860. But I've only heard good things about the 960 if I had the cash spare I would of defiantly bought one by now.

Are you going from an HDD to an SSD?

If so, just go for the standard SATA SSD. You'll be too amazed by the huge difference between the two that you won't care about the incredibly small difference between a SATA SSD and a fancy M.2 SSD.

My PC boots up in like 5 seconds off a regular SSD. It boots up in 4.5 seconds on the M.2 SSD. I bought it on an impulse and while I don't regret it, I don't think it was worth it haha. Then again if you like everything in your case being flush and clean, something that more or less hides on your motherboard really makes for a nice low profile build.

@yhyyy: The difference is that you'll have to own m.2 slot vs normal sata, the advantage of m.2 SSDs is speed.

Normal Sata SSDs usually run at 500-600Mb/s while the new M.2 SSDs gen is capable of 3Gb/s of read and 2Gb/s of write speeds. (make sure you know the speeds before you buy M.2 SSD because the old gens run just as fast as normal Sata SSDs)

An overkill for OS and games but if you edit videos with large files that M.2 could lower the time taking into saving projects and inserting videos into the editing software.
