Need to take it all with a grain of salt...... Since its all rumors and speculation... but their numbers dont quite add up.

They speculate 9.75 TFLOPS for 1170 and yet rate it at 30% faster than GTX 1080 when 8.87 TFLOPS to 9.75 TFLOPS is only like a 10% difference. Let alone many 3rd party 1080's are above 9 TFLOP range. But Shading units: 2560 vs 2688, TMUs: 160 vs 168, 10-11 Gbps vs 12 gbps.

I bought a 1070 on Friday, replacing my 780. I might return it, though. Best Buy has a 14 day return policy on most items. Then again, it might be really hard to find an 1170 at MSRP for the first year, so maybe I should just stick with this for the next few years.

New cheap, more efficient technology? we've seen that before - it's not always about the numbers.

How is it cheap when its suppose to be $500 for not even a top end gpu...... When 1070 had $400 msrp.

If that is all that it has over the 1080 Ti, I will wait for the 1180 Ti. I upgraded from a 980 Ti to a 1080 when it launched, but these numbers don't make it worthwhile this time around.

What's wrong with it's current software? most people use MSI Afterburner even if they don't own one.

Those numbers are sound! To be honest, I'm totally happy with my 1080Ti and I'm not gonna upgrade for the next 3 years or so. If there's gonna be a 1180Ti on the horizon, I'll wait for a price drop (most likely on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday) at the very least.

I use MSI Afterburner all the time but EVGA Precision both does the same and run on Rivatuner. It's just a skin preference. People choose MSI because it looks simple, which is true. I heard the guy who made Rivatuner got into deep shit with EVGA on the whole Rivatuner which I think urbangamez is talking about stepping up there program.

I think 1180 will do the trick just fine for 1-2 years of 4K gaming.

EVGA Step-Up Program is for trading in a new GPU within 90 days for a next model up - you may pay a price difference for it. It's not a computer program like MSI Afterburner.

The program has been around for a while. I made use of it years back. I had picked up two 8800 GTS 640MB cards. Had them for about 2 months and the G92 models were released. I was able to make use of the Step-Up program to exchange my cards for 2 of the 8800 GTS 512MB. Since both cards cost the same, it was a wash for me, aside from paying for shipping to get my cards to EVGA.

1180 Ti won’t launch at the same time as 1160, 1170, 1180

Ti is likely a year away

Expensive for a XX70 card. I want 1180 though as an upgrade from 980Ti.

Tom's Hardware has more details on Nvidia GTX 1180 but as always, take this with a grind of salt. Well find out this July, if it exist that is.

this is how it always is, 80ti model is slightly cut down model of the chip used in Titan, it's not the same chip as normal 80's have, for example with pascal Titan and 1080ti are gp102, 1070 and 1080 are gp104

From what I've seen so far, which is of course all speculation and rumour, I'll be sticking with my 1080's for now. They're pretty much FE reference cards (MSI Aero's) but they boost to 2.06Ghz/9Tf.

Hmmm when is it coming out? Last I heard is June-September?

I just might be able to skip the 10xx series, I still have my 980 and it's doing just fine.

If you have waited this long, wait for the 1180 to release. Planning on doing so myself. Atm 980Ti.

What will cost me more is a new monitor. I really want one of those 3440*1440 200Hz monitors that should be released this year. Perhaps wait for second generation. Let them sort out the baby problems (or whatever you call problems that usually are in the beginning).

The 1170 is the 1080Ti, so the 1180 is a new card, or pretty damn good OC'ed one.

1160 will probably be similar performance than those two cards. I doubt the 1070ti/1080 will drop enough in price to make it a better buy.

The 980 even with a godly price drop was still like $80 higher price than the 1060 when the 1060 launched.
