seriously
I'd buy a 1180 ti, 2080 ti, or a new Titan. SK Hynix is starting mass production of gddr6 in a few months but they will likely already have some made. Samsung been in mass production of gddr6 sense early 2018. so we could be getting new gpu's around that time?
Also hope nvidia aren't d**** and boycott hdmi 2.1 feature Variable Refresh Rate (free sync 2) just to keep g-sync alive. Would love to pair a Volta card with a 120hz oled tv with VRR.
when can we pre-order?
Seriously I might buy this right out the gate, common sense and caution be damned.
Do we know the price point that's expect from this GPU? As I'm not sure if I should wait or just go ahead and purchase a 1080ti
With GDDR6 suppose to be around 20% more expensive than GDDR5, AMD not providing much competition, miners and most likely short supplies..... I bet 1180 or 2080 what ever its going to be called the msrp will be in the $700 range and the **70 series will be in the $600 range.

It is what it is. They can increase the prices all they like, PC gamers will still find a way. PC gaming has always been expensive hobby but it's worth it. Especially if you buy the best of the best when it's time to upgrade. I hope my GTX 1080Ti stays good for at least 3/4 years.
The fact that a GTX 1070 can play 98% of games on ultra at either 1080p or 1440p makes anything above it a bit useless.

Okay, then we are talking about what 85% to 90% of games. I got my GTX 1070 for $328 last year when GPU prices weren't inflated- it didn't make a lot not of sense to get a GTX 1080ti for $799- the GTX 1060 and the GTX 1070 have the best price to performance ratio in the entire GPU market.

obviously, the higher end cards are never going to be the best bang for the buck but they aren't exactly useless either

Not saying they are useless, but they don't have a good price to performance ratio. I am very happy with my GTX 1070 and perhaps I will upgrade in the future.
