GTX 1070 SLI vs GTX 1070ti

So obviously GPU prices are outrageous right now, but in about 6 months to a year when the market normalizes I want to upgrade my GPU. Currently I have an EVGA GTX 1070 super clocked, but would it be worth it to get a second GTX 1070 and run it in SLI or just to get a GTX 1070ti?

On PC, I play Far Cry 3 /4 (I will probably get 5), Skyrim Special Edition, Witcher 3, and Dragon Age: Inquisition just to name of the few and as you can see, most of these games are pretty graphically demanding, especially when modded. Primarily I am a 1080p gamer, but ever since I got my 4K TV, I have linked up my rig to my TV and I have been gaming between 2K and 1440p with pretty great results.

@mecha_frieza: SLI nore CF isn't worth it today, unless you get that 2nd GPU super cheap.

jumping from GTX1070 to 1070Ti isn't worth it neither, either you go GTX1080Ti or wait for next gen.

I guess I could wait for next gen... whenever that is.

maybe if you can get your hands on one of them.... might be longer than that sadly

Neither would be a worthwhile upgrade

2 GPU's in SLI does not equal double the performance, it's much less than that, and only in games that support it (which is few).

Going from a 1070 to a 1070Ti is also a waste of money. If you really can't wait for the next generation, which everyone and their mother suggests you do, then go for a 1080Ti.

I don't know about all that....

Is a 1070 really that lacking when it comes to playing those games at 1440? My 980Ti can play those games no problem at 1440 at high frame rates. 1070 should even be a tiny bit better.

I'd save your money.
