I have a chance to get a good deal on a Corsair H55 but unfortunately it doesn't have the backplate. That's partly why I'm getting a good deal on it.

I still have the backplate from my old Domino ALC cooler. Will I be able to properly fit the H55 cooler onto my motherboard using the Domino ALC backplate?

@x-2tha-z: Mostly yes, I have my Arctic Cooling connected with H60 backplate because it's better.

Why should it not work? The mounting holes are the same.

Depends if you have to screw something into the backplate, the threads may be the wrong size.

Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna go for it. It does screw in. Hopefully the threads are the same size.

I fitted the new cooler but now there's no signal being sent to my monitor and the USB ports aren't working. Any ideas how to fix this? I've unplugged everything and put it back but still no joy. I've also replaced the CMOS battery with a brand new battery.

@x-2tha-z: Oh. Well it just seems strange if you only swapped the cooler. I guess I would check that everything is plugged in snugly, like the 4-pin and such. Best of luck.

Everything is fitted as it should be. I guess my motherboard and/or CPU got damaged when my cooler broke. Damn.

A fried processor wouldn't stop the USB ports from working, would it? I'm thinking the issue must be my motherboard. IDK.
