I'm wondering what the fastest RAM speeds the Ryzen will be able to use out of the box, since I am not an overclocker. I know the FX-8300 CPU's only support up to DDR3-1866. So the Ryzen would no doubt be much higher. I just wonder what the highest speed would be.

Well it's going to support DDR 4 and Biostar is listing the X370GT7 as supporting DDR4-2667 so at launch not a huge speed upgrade but over time the board partners will probably support really high speeds just like they do for intel if the high end market is there.

So would that be the base speed without overclocking? And any higher speed is just with OCing?

@AlexKidd5000: Hardware talk, moved to Hardware forum.

As for the topic - clock speeds doesn't matter - architecture does - wait for reviews.

It's usually best to read the QVL that comes with the board and to choose from there.

I hope the Ryzen CPU's won't be in short supply, I have a feeling they will be sold out as soon as they become available.
