There are so many and some should never even be considered and I could not just name 5.

1. Godfather 1-2 (3 was odd so it would be ok with a remake) / Scarface / Taxi driver.

2. Shawshank redemption

3. Full Metal Jacket

4. Deer Hunter / Platoon / Apocalypse Now

5. Psycho

Also, it´s the actors and director combined that makes a movie great, imagine Dirty Harry without Clint or Godfather or Scarface without Al Pacino or Brando.

It's a shame Lost Highway doesn't get much love that scene with Robert Blake and Bill Pullman has always stuck in my mind over the years it's creep AF I love it also the movie has a amazing soundtrack.

What can I say, my boy James Cameron makes some good shit.

Honestly I probably have some different favorite movies I might swap in there as I remember them, but off the top of my head those are my five perfect movies.

Love Lynch and love that scene. To me Lost Highway really goes deep into jealousy and insecurity and that specific scene with him "inviting him to enter his home" is so damn strong. That movie is Lynch at his best, nailing the intersection of conventional cinema and his crazy abstract mind.

Nice list. If the internet is still around when I can actually narrow it down to a top five, I'll post it here....

  • Terminator 2
  • Jurassic Park
  • The Departed
  • Seven
  • The Matrix

Those are the movies I can always watch. Like, on any occasion, any day of the week.

But I also have a list of films I can't watch always, but are imho also perfect. Depends on the mood, I guess

  • Schindler's List
  • The Pianist
  • The Silence of the lambs
  • Fargo
  • Blade Runner
