Normally not a scary movie person, but something in my middle age has made me one 🤣 Watched Scream, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist. All great movies. How about you, OT?

Does the movie have to scare me to qualify? Because I haven't seen a movie in at least a decade that scared me. Video games are another thing, like Alien Isolation. That still gets me. But as for film, I would say, in no particular order
I know some folks don't think the Blair With was scary but there's something unsettling about a grown man standing in the corner when you know he's avoiding the witch.
I'd go with the original It, House On Haunted Hill, or The Shining if it counts. I'm not the biggest fan of horror films, though, so my tastes are probably trash lol
Big fan of sci-fi-horror, horror with aliens. I also am getting into some Lovecraftian-esque stuff, too; a bit late to the party but there's a lot of good stuff and monsters inspired by that.
I also likes horror anthologies. It's like a tasting menu of short films, some of which are quite good. And the bad ones are still entertaining.
Honorable mentions: not horror, but still scary:
Hmmm as of right now I'll go with Jacob's Ladder 1990.
Damn that was a pretty terrifying movie. Had the whole traditional scary stuff, but the psychological component (and that ending!)...yeesh.

Blair Witch deserves a seat at the table if only for popularizing the found footage subgenre of film.
It was also a good movie but I think it was maybe not taken serious for its lack of traditional horror elements: a clear villain, blood and guts, etc.. Up until the last few years I don't think the horror genre was really taken serious by film snobs and Blair Witch might have been a little ahead of its time. I don't think it was anything amazing, but I don't think it deserves the criticism it retroactively gets.

Wow, I'm surprised I'm not the only one here that likes BW2 it's pretty much universally hated.

Yep, that's one of the main reasons I love that movie it's one of the best psychological horror movies of all time and also of course it influence some of the Silent Hill games.
There's many, but I'd say Halloween II is definitely up there for me. It's a mix between nostalgia and liking the fact that it's set in a hospital.
Other than that:
House of Wax (2005)
Saw II
Sleepaway Camp
The Strangers & The Strangers Prey at Night
House
Gremlins II: The New Batch - Technically not a horror, but it falls into that category to an extent.
Poltergeist II: The Other Side
1408
World War Z
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Yeah...that's all that come to mind right now. :P

Nice choice, that’s a great flick.
I know this isn’t a popular choice, but I’d have to say Paranormal Activity. It’s one of my top favorites. I find the theme of being vulnerable when you’re sleeping (something you cannot escape) to be very unsettling.
Katie being dragged out of bed. Yeah, nope!
I'm such a little bitch when it comes to scary movies. Generally hate watching them, but I absolutely love these ones. Probably because they're not that scary.
Alien
The Thing
Silent Hill (weirdly good for being based on a videogame. Do not watch the sequels.)
The Blair Witch (again, screw the sequels)

The first Paranormal Activity was really good I remember that scene it was crazy.
So many great horror movies and I mostly agree with everyones’ choices that were posted.
For me, Shocker, The First Power, and House of 1000 Corpes, 28 Days later and sequel standout.
I could never get into Texas Chainsaw Massacre because it was too brutal and sadistic for me.
Definitely not one of my favorites genres, but there are some i've enjoyed.
probably The Shining is my favorite. Jack Nicholson is just so entertaining in it
