I've recently been collecting Marvel Epic collections and have come to the realization that I should probably check out what DC has to offer. I'm more into collections and graphic novels rather than the individual comics. So throw some suggestions my way and I'd appreciate it.

Well since Vertigo got rebranded as DC Black or something, my favorite DC characters are Death from the Sandman series, Spider Jerusalem from Transmetropolitan, and John Constantine from Hellblazer.

If you were looking for more traditional superhero stuff, I haven't read a whole lot of that. I can say Batman: Year One, and Superman: Kingdom Come are pretty good.

Please read Sandman though. I'm not really even joking when I say it will change your life.

Batman. Speaks to my childhood fantasy of being rich, having shiny high-tech gear, and beating up poor people.

Nah. Seriously, though, it's because he's Badass Normal incarnate and yet is arguably the baddest motherf***er in a DC universe full of ridiculously overpowered God-like beings. Also, he has probably the best rogues gallery in all of comics.

@judaspete: It's been a while since I've read a Sandman. I had forgotten all about him

Thanks for the suggestions!

@crimsonbrute: lol TC did mention DC heroes only. I never consider Harley Quinn a hero, she's still bad and yeah, she's anti-heroine but that's as far as she's getting.

@DEVILinIRON:

#1. On my list has to go to Batman. I just love Batman. All cool, mysterious and buff! I love how despite the fact that Batman is the weakest hero in the Justice League, he's still a head figure in command. All out of respect for his knowledge and skills.

#2. Is Wonder Woman. A super skilled fighter with powers of a God -- makes her one of tought DC heroes out there. Also Diana's a lead, not a sidekick like Supergirl. I was always fascinated by just the concept of Gods in general. Ontop of that, the Greek mythology is equally interesting too so it makes the lore easy to get into. Wonder Woman to me is the embodiment of the perfect warrior.

Probably Batman. He's just a normal dude with training and cool tools.

I'm a Green Lantern guy. Cosmic adventures with a galaxy spanning police force. Check out the Geoff Johns / Ethan Van Sciver run. About 50 issues of great writing and art on one of the best comic runs ever.

Batman has some great Elseworlds stories like Red Rain & Bloodstorm where he takes on Dracula and even becomes a vampire himself.

The Injustice comics based on the game were surprisingly good. Superman becomes a dictator and both heroes and villains choose sides and go to war.

Batman.

Partially because I grew up with that particular DC hero the most. The animated series definitely was a big part of my childhood. But, I just love the universe and the depth of most characters backstories in general.

Because we really need a busty girl that can kick ass. :P

I honestly know next to nothing about her. Except that she is really like Supergirl.... nothing.

While not a great movie, I find it not nearly as bad as most people do. A lot of the problem had to do with making Parallax the main villain. People want to see the hero and the villain duke it out in super scale battles. Having the hero go up against an intangible primal force of fear doesn't leave a whole lot of room for fisticuffs. Ryan Reynolds was also a bad choice to play Hal Jordan. Hal isn't a joker like Reynolds plays in everything he is in. A more serious actor would have been better.

I did like their portrayal of Oa, Kilowog and the other Lanterns and I was stoked when they cast Mark Strong as Sinestro. Thought he was perfect and would have loved to see him as a Yellow Lantern in all his evil glory in the sequel.

Probably just batman. I have no knowledge of DC outside of Batman.
