Whats your favorite Book youve ever read? Or series of Books? Good enough that you lost sleep over it, because you couldnt put the book down? List the Title, Author, and a Brief Description!! How often do you read books? How many in a year on average? For me, id say 2 or 3. I dont read as often as I should.

Here's mine:

Title : "Alhazred: Author of the Necronomicon"

Author : Donald Tyson.

Description : Abdul Alhazred, is brought to life in this epic tale detailing the mad sorcerer's tragic history and magical adventures. Alhazred tells his own life story, beginning with himself as a poor, handsome boy in Yemen who attracts the attention of the king for his divine skill in poetry. As the court poet, young Abdul lives a luxurious life at the palace, where he studies necromancy and magic. But falling in love with the king's daughter leads to a foolish tryst, which is ultimately discovered. As punishment, Abdul is tortured, brutally mutilated, and cast into the desert, known as the Empty Space. Battling insanity, he joins a tribe of ghouls and learns forbidden secrets from a stranger called Nyarlathotep. Thus begins his downward spiral into wickedness. Renamed Alhazred, he escapes the desert and embarks on a quest to restore his body and reunite with his true love. Traveling across the ancient world and fantastic realms, he is hounded by foes and tormented by the demands of his dark lord.

My favorite book is probably Hatchet by Gary Paulson. It's not a hard read, but I just love the book for some reason. Animal Farm, 1984, and The Outsiders are all amazing books as well.

Robert Heinlein's Future History series is pretty good. Though that's just a title given to a selection of his books with similar characters and ideas.

I like Larry Nivan's Ringworld series (and the Known Space universe). But I'm not much of a reader, so I have a limited selection of books to chose from that I've actually read.

Like I said, it's not a hard read, but I think I really like it since it was the first real book that I ever read. I haven't read it in a while though so it's probably not as good as I remember. Come to think of it, I think I 'll go with Animal Farm as my favorite book, since I actually remember reading and enjoying that book greatly, and not basing it off of nostalgia like Hatchet.

It's hard for me to sit down and read an entire novel; I wish I could though. Sadly, I haven't read for pleasure in over five years. I need to build reading stamina.

One of my favorite short stories is, "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes.

The Hyperion Cantos Series by Dan Simmons. If anyone noticed, I really, really, really like that particular series out of all the books that I have ever read. In my mind this series surpasses just about every single other book that I have ever read. All the Harry Potter Books, Dune, Starship Troopers, The Lord of the Rings, The Forever War, Lord of the Flies, etc etc etc. Its pretty much the damn best science fiction series of the whole damn genre in my opinion. Very well written, very well thought out and an extremely complex, yet damn fine story to boot. If ye be a sci-fi buff, I strongly recommend reading this series and making it top priority.

my favorite book is the metamorphosis by franz kafka. its about a young man's transformation into a bug and its implications on him and his family. its stylish, influential, funny, and often painfully true. ive known a few people that went through what happens to gregor (not the transforming into a bug part :P , but what it represents) and it pretty much unfolds as told on the family level.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, easily the best written books and characters I ever read. There is 7 total, and a totally different series for King, its like Lord of the Rings meets the old West. Its about the last Gunslinger as he travels across worlds to find The Dark Tower, pretty much the pinnacle of existance. And when he finally gets there...what an ending. :)

I'm totally unoriginal, but Harry Potter... I've read each of the books 5+ times, and I've read some of the older ones over 10 times. They just don't get old for me. J.K. Rowling is brilliant and ridiculously creative. Her stories just suck you in. It's impossible to put those books down. I've never read books that have gotten me so emotional, and I'm talking about ALL emotions.

Probably Terry Pratchett's "Mort", it's one of the few books that I've read more than once >.> The entire "Disc World"-series is pretty good, but it's not my favorite. Terry Brook's "Shannara"-books are probably my number 1 series. Every single book about the Shannara family is pretty awesome.

I'm reading that now, and I can totally understand why it's your favorite. It's amazing.

I don't understand why it's considered a childrens' book, though.

One of mine is Tom Clancy's books with Jck Ryan and John Kelly "Mr Clark".

Another series is the Fire and Ice books by George RR Martin
