Well, I like both, but if I had to pick, dogs.

Dogs. A dog will risk his life for his owner while a cat sleeps around and gets pampered all day.

I've had multiple dogs and cats in my life and never once have any of them risked their life for me. If anything, the dogs have attacked my relatives and friends because they were poorly trained and lacked the intelligence to obey a command.
But then again my parents never spent thousands of dollars on dog training so that could also stand to be argued.
From my perspective, I don't demand that any animal I have risk its life for me. If I needed that kind of protection I'd just buy a gun. Cheaper than most animals too.

You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on dog training to properly socialize a dog. Just take them around a lot of friendly people and animals when they're 8 to 16 weeks old and make sure they have positive experiences.

Thats a big dislike bar...
A hard one since I really like both for their own reasons.
But I choose cats because they are easier and they have a mind of their own.
While dogs are generally more like servants, the cat has a 'screw you, I don't like it' attitude which I find incredibly funny.
Then again, my cat (see avatar) is incredibly docile and sweet, she always wants to be with you and is never cranky. She has a really lovable character.
That's a sweet cat you have there :oops:A hard one since I really like both for their own reasons.
