Poll Would you rather have a kitten or a puppy? (31 votes)

Kittens! 58%
Puppies! 42%

If you wanted a new pet and had to choose between the 2 only, which one would you get? A kitten or a puppy?

Probably neither. Once my current Yorkie problem kicks it, I think I'm going to be done dealing with a stubborn, maintenance-heavy bag of fur for at least while.

Depends on the lifestyle and dog breed.

Kittens for me because I'm a cat lover! (don't you dare ask me about that Cat movie) Cats are low maintenance because they go to the bathroom on their own and aren't that much needed attention, they do their own thing.

Kitten. Due to space constraints.

I prefer puppies. Though cats don't require as much attention, which makes them the easier choice.

i never really understood the "they don't need attention" reason as a plus for a pet.

why have a pet if you don't want to give it attention?

In my eyes, it's a matter of "can", not "want" to give a pet attention. Not everyone can find the time to walk a dog 3 times a day, or convince other parties sharing the house to accept a new member in the family (unlike cats which are kinda... just there).

Cats if I had to have one.

I'm not enough home to be a good owner.

After 18 years of not having either because I didn't want to deal with the responsibility of a pet, I am once again a dog owner. Some douchebag ditched a terrier (about a year old according to the vet) at my work the weekend before Halloween. Spent the week trying to earn his trust and on Halloween morning he finally came up to me and I took him home that night. He now has the run of the house and I look forward to getting home after work every day just to play with his silly ass.

The pic isn't him but is exactly what he looks like. He likes to army crawl up the bed and wake me with a tongue to the face.

I'm so a cat person. Although... I have started to think about getting a puppy more often. Only problem is, I love puppies way more when they're puppies than when they grow up, but I love kittens and cats regardless of age.

Kittens! I'm a cat dude, not ashamed to say it.

I like dogs don't get me wrong, but if I wanted to own a living critter that I had to actually work at, I'd just have a kid.

Really depends on the type of dog you have.

Like if you have a lab, unless it's a very rare case or something is wrong with it, that thing is going to be a saint, probably less work than a cat, which can still do annoying shit like use furniture as scratching posts.

Something like a proper bred husky, you're in for a world of shit.

Dog!

Unbeknownst to my daughter, I really want a dog and so does she. She thinks I don’t want one. But I told her I will only get one if she agrees to be responsible for all the maintenance. If she fails to clean up each time, I will take away her monthly allowance.

She has not agreed yet, but I suspect she will soon.

Once she agrees I can have a dog, all the fun without the poop and piss!!! Yay!!!

Never understood the love people have for animals. Why would I want either? Will it herd my sheep? Hunt rabbits for me? Do I have a mouse problem? Am I blind and need a guide? Is somebody gonna jimmy through my impossible to breach business grade lock or climb three stories in the visibility of downtown to break through my window? Will it lick my balls? Useless.
