I'm talking about if you're 21 and this guy is 55. I don't mean just talk to him like an aquitance but actually hang out with him. Have him over your house, go see a movie with him, bowling, pool, drinking, etc. on a 1 on 1 hang out. I actually have a friend right now who is 55 who I met playing handball at the park that I'm thinking about cutting off. He's cool, he's a nice guy not weird, gay or anything like that. I talk to him and call him sometimes to play handball but should I actually be chillin with him? like movies, drink, and such

Wait. Let me see if I can get what you're asking here. You're currently in a romantic relationship with a 55 year old guy and you're 21, correct?

cause it's weird, you don't have anything in common. When you go out to eat, the old guy is going to be eating organic vegetables or something, while you're eating fried chicken

I had no problems with it. A friend is a friend no matter what age. Cavat check the motive if you are young.

There's a guy like that who we sometimes hang out with. My group of uni friends are an odd bunch anyway so he fits in lovely.

Sure, why not? I'm 19 and have hung out with people in their 40s on vent or in real life a few times. Age is a number, nothing more.

My best friend is almost twice my age, we connect in almost everything, and I couldn't ask for anything more. I agree, age is just a number.

Go out to eat after a game and see if he's cool enough to hang with... I don't think age should mean anything if it's fun.

One of my best friends is a Vietnam Veteran. (60+ years old), he was one of the unfortunate guys to run up what is now known as Hamburger Hill. I served in the Air Force as a Pararescue trainee before I got injured.

We get along fine, the 60's (Vietnam Era) generation was all about tolerance and understanding. He's a tough as nails, but cool, you know? But for him, it was far more violent. Guys that came home were called baby killers and spit on. He said if he had to do it over again, he would've fought as a young man in this generation, where soldiers are embraced as heroes rather than viliains. He's always talking about how guys could not wear their uniforms around college campuses or in the public, because they would get the evil eye. I couldn't even imagine that myself if that happened today.

We get along fine. The old fart kicks my ass at pool and darts whenever we meet up at the local bar. :D

I have no problems hanging out with friends much older than me. Looking for topics to talk about isn't all that hard to do. I have the same amount of trouble with friends my own age anyway so I see no difference. Older friends are much more chill, in my opinion. The friends my age sometimes make so much drama that it can get tiring. :P

I do not see why not, if y'all share common interests that is all that matters in a friend not their age.

I personally dont see why not, if we had stuff in common and what not. I actually may volunteer one day to chill out with the elderly in one of those nursing homes, since there family dont vist them if at all. This thread is encouraging. Well not really since most is saying no lol.

at that age, idk.

when i was 18 i was in a band, and our singer was like 35/36, so he was twice my age but he was cool. he was weird sometimes, but he told us he did a lot of acid and stuff when he was our age (18-21) so that explains that. i've hung out with just him before though, for instance one time i went over to his house and i skated and he biked on this crate he made, we did some grinds and stuff lol

Probably not. I mean I would not totally just say no, but usually I tend to hang around people my own age, 5 or even a couple more years difference is usually my range. To go to the other end of the spectrum, would you hang out with someone more than half your age... ya know... just too different generationally IMO.

I'm 19, and I usually hang out with people much older than me. 30's - 50's. Not that I despise anything about people in my age group, it's just that these people are usually a lot more mature and easier to have a laid back time with.

No, but we probably wouldn't be that good of friends in the first place. Can't see myself having anything in common enough with someone that age to actually become good friends with them in the first place.

No, I don't think so. I'm 23 and I don't think I would want to hang out with someone who is 46 or older.
