You're killing people. Yes you! You are killing people by smoking pot. Yourself? In most cases no. Hurting yourself? Yeah.

By smoking Marijuana you are funding illegal activity that is driving out mexicans from cities and producing murder. Not to mention you are putting yourself in danger of trouble.

This is one of the reasons it should be legal though, but it is bad for you.

Agreed? It does make sense that using illegal drugs funds violent crime... but its the government's fault for not offering a legal alternative.

Even though it's not physically harmful for the most part, there are a number of factors that can hurt you or people around you upon smoking it. From my experiences it does impair judgment, and the fact that you can't get physically addicted opens to door for a mental addiction. I've had to work with people who smoke and they perform their jobs much better when sober. They still function correctly, but they just aren't themselves, and it can be annoying. Simply put, it's not a safe drug like poeple think it is.

That certainly does not go for everyone, and it's not a very good argument at all. Legalizing it (or, at the very least, decriminalizing it) would solve a lot of problems. It's a lot more realistic than simply telling everyone to stop smoking it, because that's not going to happen...and, in my opinion, it shouldn't have to happen.

It really isn't. My mom had a seizure smoking it once back in high school. And don't say it's changed, if anything it's worse.

Pfft - that's like saying people who buy those 'blood diamonds' are somehow partly responsible for the deaths of those people who died mining them... you're trying to imply that if there was no demand for the diamonds, the people who died trying to procure them wouldn't ha... oh, wait...

If it were legal people wouldn't need to purchase their drugs from "murderous thugs" thus in turn giving a paycheck to criminal organizations.

Yes ...so let's brainwash everybody to think that pot is bad and will make you murder your family? That's the only real way to cut off demand is with lies and fear mongering, or we can kill every hippy that likes pot.... PERFECT!.....

That sounds so much more logical than just legalizing it !

end sarcasm/

If legalized we would stop paying tax dollars for keeping people to over crowded jails on pot charges, hundreds of billions of dollars that could be used for better things like education. There would also be a huge sales tax if it were legal, which would add hundreds of millions of dollars to the economy. Oh and back to the topic, drug cartels would be losing an overwhelming chunk of their income, so their numbers will shrink along with the violence.

OK, let's say that pot is now legal and is grown on government farms and /or by government contractors, and is sold like tobacco at 7/11 or your local pharmacy... the price is likely to at least double, possibly even triple now that it has also become a new, huge source of tax revenue... you going to be OK with paying double for your weed? Gangsters everywhere realize that people will happily buy from black market racketeers if they can save a buck or screw the government out of tax revenue... so we're back to square one....

If anything the price would drop because of the availability of the drug, not rise. Same thing happened with alcohol during prohibition.

This post reminds me of something I thought few months ago

Ever wondered why the plant cannabis spends a lot of energy into making THC in buds that cover their seeds? It is to manipulate the outside world into cultivating her. Instead of a fruit with a fleshy edible body covering a non digestive seed, the cannabis plant invested in giving not food, but a substance that causes pleasure in order to distribute its seeds. Since it end up recruiting the most successful mammal in the world cannabis now have its gene guaranteed for as long as we exist. Also its a very successful plant itself since we cut off others plants just to give ground for us growing them. Pot is a lot smarter than we thought off

So yeah, maybe we dont need marijuanna to exist, but they surely want us to

See, people don't think this through -- if you think you're getting screwed now, today, for the price you pay for weed at the street level, JUST WAIT until the government gets their fingers in the business of growing it and/or distributing it and see what happens... think people, think... or has all that weed smoke clogged the little synapses between the neurons and glial cells in those little brains of yours...

Your post I quoted says the exact opposite. Legalizing is will reduce the price, legalizing it will cause the price to sky rocket. I'm confused, did you just refute yourself?

Exactly. The enormous costs of subverting the legal system with an army of middle men doesn't help either.

Like you most people would as well. However the price of drugs would be lower if legalized. Prices sky rocket for any good once they are confined to the black market.

I think that it should be legal

however that is to say that smoking pot isn't for everyone. The last few times I have tried it it led me to have anxiety attacks, something that I have never experienced before

[QUOTE="67gt500"] OK, let's say that pot is now legal and is grown on government farms and /or by government contractors, and is sold like tobacco at 7/11 or your local pharmacy... the price is likely to at least double, possibly even triple now that it has also become a new, huge source of tax revenue... you going to be OK with paying double for your weed? Gangsters everywhere realize that people will happily buy from black market racketeers if they can save a buck or screw the government out of tax revenue... so we're back to square one....67gt500

If anything the price would drop because of the availability of the drug, not rise. Same thing happened with alcohol during prohibition.

The price of alcohol went through the roof because people could no longer legally procure it... why do you think gangsters like Capone and his cronies started bootlegging, out of the goodness of their little hearts? They made a goddam fortune because they were the only place in town where you could go and have a cold one...

You have just some what opposed what you stated earlier.

Regardless once corporate power comes into play gangsters are done. They don't have a hope in hell against corps.
