[QUOTE="comp_atkins"][QUOTE="newhenpal"][QUOTE="comp_atkins"] [QUOTE="CrimzonTide"][QUOTE="comp_atkins"]but why do you consider it vulgar? like you said, it has no meaning. so are you offended by words with no meaning? is it the sound that offends you? or have you just been brought up being told that it is offensive so you naturally react with disgust when you hear it?newhenpal
Because ever since anyone was a kid, it was used only for being nasty, and only had negative connotations. It is offensive. Every language has that. Why bother having any variations in language, if you can't have words that have negative meanings?well, why bother having words you cant say then??
Stop acting like a little child, yes go ahead and say **** and you will get diffrent results because some people have heard it so much that it doesn't bother them, but keep in mind others will. Your question was why they say rape and not **** in news, well as I and you have said,it has no meaning (which is strange because in your first post you said it ment to have sex, you contridicted yourself there buddy). Rape means actually means something and people get raped and it is (or should be) local or national news' jobto report on this, which as I have said people read and some of them don't like the f word and why bother saying **** instead of rape when people will be offended at the f word, and rape is much more specific. Last time I checked most news networks aren't pornnews and will almost always report violence because that is usually what happens in the world, I don't think people are interested inwhat positionjimmy ****ed stacy, the only thing you will find close to sex in news is surprise, surprise....rape.
first off you are the one suggesting it had no meaning.. i was merely running with that, buddy.
as you said: "Because all people have the right to read/hear/watch news and 50% don't want to hear the f word in the news because it has no real definition and is really just a swear word,"
my point is words are not offensive because you were told they are. start thinking for yourself and not knee-jerk reacting to things. animals do that, not humans.
Well I think you should know that I am not offended by that word, and it's funny how you say 'point is words are not offensive' yet you tell people to think for them selves. Weather you find them offensive or not people still find it offensive as it is generally used as a negative comment (F*** you, he got f***ed up, etc.) And why bother? there are many words in the english language thatdon't have an obscure history and have the samemeaning, and no one is offended. You seem to be one of those people who thinks the world is violating their freedom to do whatever they want, be it questionable or not.
i'm merely questioning why people get thier panties in a ruffle over words when far more offensive thing, such as rape, murder, etc.. are allowed to be used for entertainment as long as no one drops the f-bomb in the process...
sheila was right.... "Horrific and deplorable violence is ok as long as you don't say any naughty words"
