I might be beating a dead horse here, but yeah; Muslims aren't a race. Actually plenty of Muslims DO mix in with 'westerners' as you call them, it's just that the ones that don't get all the attention. Aside from that, a few people on both sides put a feeling of 'they hate us, we hate them' in their children when they're young and they just stick to that notion throughout.
Because Muslims follow a totalitarian ideology that has its finger in every single aspect of their lives. It's not just a religion. It's a text book on how to live. What to think. What to believe. What to accept. It leaves zero room for interpretations. Ideas. Thoughts. Opinions. It's just a string. Attached to your neck. Move, please. Allah wills it.

You're describing first generation immigrant kids. Yeah, most tend to speak bad English, and only communicate with other Asians. Most Asians raised in the US though aren't like that at all..
Most new immigrants tend to live in areas with other immigrants of similar background. Eventually over time their children etc will become westernized and mix more with the population of the country.LJS9502_basic
