Why is being a Christian so difficult?

I come here asking for help because i see alot of religious and christian threads here in OT.

I have to spread the word, even at the risk of being an outcast and/or rejected by friends, family and strangers. I have to abandon all the sinful things that i used to do. And i have to give God time in the day for the Bible and prayer.

With those basic Christian things aside, the attacks from Satan are difficult too... they are so vicious and mislead me! In the blink of an eye, i find myself doing the things i used to as soon as i put my mind on worldly things... even for a second.

I admit, i fail from time to time, but i do pick myself back up. Its just that sometimes i find it all very overwhelming. Is it more difficult for me because i am a late Christian? meaning that after years of a worldly lifestyle, this sudden change is normal to be difficult on me?

If you believe wholeheartedly in any religion, it should be easy. You put your trust in your God/Gods/Goddesses/Cthulhu, and everything will work out. Isn't that the way it works?

Actually, if he is a Christian, neither one of those is an option for they both would be sinful. Asceticism is something the Bible and the early church fought against. maheo30

I find it odd that Jesus is supposed to be the OT God. They differ so vastly, yet people buy into the trinity concept.

I would say, the difficult part is lying to yourself all day, errday.

find the nearest catholic church. go there and try to get a private room with a priest. tell him you've been very naughty, i'm sure he'll have the perfect thing for you to do. just hope that you are still young enough.

You look like you are devoted, that is enough. You don't need to spread the word of anything. If someone wants to listen and join the fold then help them, otherwise just keep it to yourself. That doesn't just apply to Christianity or Islam, it could be applied to any other religion.

I don't know, do you mean like socially or do you mean like spiritually? I am not a Christian, but I respect those who are, but there are many different Christian groups out there. So yours might be different than others I guess.

There are several aspects of Christianity that I do not understand. The concept of Satan that you brought up, well there is no Satan in the origional Jewish texts. There is an angel God sends to tempt humans called Bezelbub, but it is not a rebellious angel that tries to hurt people.

I can see it being difficult for you if you believed there was an invisible monster called Satan that followed you around and made your life miseralble or something. Some aspects of Christianity do seem hard to me, like do you feel guilty all the time? Always going around asking for forgiveness and saying "oh I can't do this it's a sin, I'm going to hell I gotta repent". This sounds stressful.

The question you need to ask yourself is are you happy? Does your religion make you feel more happy? There are plenty of Christian groups out there, perhaps yours is more strict than others. Maybe you should try to find a more relaxed congregation then?

But the important thing is do you get the message, it's simple. Love God and love your neighbor, thats it. Everything else doesn't matter, it's those 2 things.

It is hard but having morals and ethics is never easy. I admire you as that no sex thing before the big M is a problem for me.

I am glad the Lord has called you. Being a Christian is very difficult. But I would not look for answers on this forum.. its a gaming forum. You need to find a community of believers that can help you walk in the faith. Find a local church, get connected. Study and meditate on the Bible and words of Jesus. The best defense against depression and other attacks from the evil one is prayer. Pray in the Lord Jesus Christ to God and use the sword to ward off attacks from the evil one, the sword is the Word of God which is the Bible.

If you ever need help you can talk to me or Mindstorm and others I might not know about on here. But I insist, if you have not got connected with a local church, do so. You need to find a community of beleivers that can help you walk in the faith. Find a local church, get connected. Study and meditate on the Bible and words of Jesus. Yeah, I mean non-Christians get accused of completely lacking morals or having an inferior culture, but Christians? Man, do they have it rough. I don't know exactly how, but believe me, it's rough.

That Christianity, in many parts of the world, is the majority. And being in the majority is not nearly as difficult as being the minority, whether it is race, religion, etc. Trying being a Muslim in America, or Black in America, before complaining.

In real life, being Christian is difficult in such places like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other Muslim countries. Every time I have deployed overseas they explicitly told us not to bring non-Muslim religious material other than one Bible or a cross for personal use because any more would be unlawful.

Just forget sending pork products in the mail and porn is banned even for US troops stationed there out of "respect" of local laws (it's blocked on the Internet and if we want to watch it the only option is usually a VPN to an outside country, which makes the nearly dial-up speed satelite Internet even slower).

On the Internet it's hard to be a Christian in such places like OT and other places people aren't very favorable to religion. Some posters only get mad if you try to shove it down their throat while others will blatantly talk about how they wish religion would die off.

The best thing to do is use common sense. Trying to preach religion on OT is almost as bad as trying to convince people here that music that isn't metal doesn't suck. Or that there is a such thing as a Republican that isn't a total idiot.
