to ruin family values, destroy the economy, ______(Insert absurd scape goat for a problem or a reason someone conflicts with their beliefs).

I have never walked into someone who is "liberal" go up to a conservative group and accuse them of being the conservative elite (despite the fact that big business usually favors the Republican party). Not only that but from watching FOX news they throw liberal around as an epithet like it makes you less of a human being (think 1950s and the N-word though not as bad).

I mean and conservatives run protests and massive rallies they are considered good Americans but when liberals do the same they are referred to as punks. When liberals criticize the president such as Bush violating international law and being a War Criminal they are labeled anti-American.

However when conservatives constantly say no to any plan liberals have and refusing to compromise they are being bold. When conservatives compare Obama to Hitler and demand a birth certificate after one is shown they are labeled an honest hard working American.

Also I know not all conservatives support this but the mainstream Fox News conservatives seem to think this way.

As a (mostly) conservative I can only respond by saying that I simply do not understand mainstream (or at least the vocal) conservatives.

That is rather unfair, they use liberals as scapegoats and are allowed to funnel the Republican Party platform through a major news network (Fox) and be "Fair and Balanced"

However when there is another bias that isn't 100% alligned with the Republican party they are part of a larger collective liberal media bias that the gallant Fox News is warding off for "hardworking Americans".

They are allowed to protest and still be considered honest Americans.

The double standards make me sick to my stomach.

Perpetuating that myth serves Fox News in attracting viewers, as well as staying true to the image that they've molded. Still, if some one calls me elite I'll be flattered rather than insulted.

Christianity is by its very religious doctrine elitest and many Christians are conservative.

Again I am not sayng that elitism is wrong but it is clearly just as if not more abundant on the conservative side and the double standard is mind numbing.

Jonesboro Baptist Church is a prime example of conservative elitism.

You weren't supposed to tell them damnit! Now that they know though there's no harm in mentioning the making gay marriage mandatory as well. And the death panels.

His statement was "Make abortions mandatory" Which would mean you're required to abort your child. Be it once, twice, or your 400th attempt at a child "Abortions are mandatory" would mean no more children.

Westboro, and you're generalizing, stereotyping.

They are a radical fringe group, and center-right people detest them.

In fact, I would be willing to make a donation to any liberal group that would protest them.

well as a christian/liberal I do believe there is good and evil in the world. there is also a lot of grey, but when you go and protest funerals and take what is quite possibly the lowest point in someone's life and attempt to make it even lower I'm gonna label that as evil. Call me what you will.

Well there is nothing wrong with labeling someone good or evil as it is subjective but it is all opinion based as there is no definate evil.

For example the 9/11 hijackers were considered good by some in the middle east while most in the US think of them as evil and others think of them as tragically misguided by propaganda.

So while labeling good and evil is an act of elitism it is necessary for the human mind to cope with the cold hard reality of the world around it.

On the subject as why conservatives are given the "racist" label, it is merely because for the most part conservatives are white and tend to be against programs that help minority communities.

when I say that I mean that it's quite possible for it to be the lowest point in an immediate family members life. For instance if I died it would probably be lowest point in my mom and dad's life.

Because moral relativity and subjectivity is generally attached to left-wing ideals. Preconceived judgmental nonsense like gay marriage/sex/science/atheism/women/non-majority races/other nations/other "unusual" aspects of life is evil" is considered to be a right-wing belief regardless of how many right-wingers really hold those beliefs; so naturally if there is someone holding that viewpoint he/she's going to be associated with conservatives somehow. And liberals are naturally going to appear to be morally questionable people to this kind of person because the tolerance and acceptance of those things are generally associated with the left.

It's an effective tactc for alienating left wing politicians from working class support. That's why they do it.

I only worry about the ones with money and power, like Soros.

one side wants to rule industry and the other wants some bs social laws. i think the bs social laws are the lesser of the two evils by many fold.

Sorry, this I don't believe. Sure, there are elitists everywhere, but I've seen far more on the liberal side of the aisle than anywhere else.

I don't really see elitist in the sense that conservatives use it as a perjorative term.

Like somebody else, if a rightwinger like Sarah Palin called me an elist, I would consider myself to be on the right track.
