Why do American comedy movies...?

have you ever seen our christmas comedies? lol

....always contain so much nudity/sex/swearing? is that the only way americans can be funny? i mean its so awkward watching it with other people. i can never find a really really funny and good movie to watch with parents or relatives. With such advanced technology they can certainly be more creative and still be as funny. Movies from my country make hilarious movies without nudity/sex/swearing and their tech isnt even that advanced. C'mon they can do so much better, most of the times its not even funny. MrLikesFat

Because that's what a lot of people like to watch nowadays. I semi-agree with you, i do like some raunchy comedies but they seem to be going overboard with them lately.

Most American like nudity/sex/swearing in their comedy movies because, in certain situations, it's funny. It's not like it's in every comedy that you see in the U.S and ther are still plenty of family oriented comedies to watch.

Check out Dumb and Dumber (you see Lauren Holly's butt...eek), Zoolander, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Dodgeball, Little Nicky, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters series, Jingle All the Way, First Kid, The Addams Family series, Blank Check, Dunston Checks In, Baby's Day Out, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Home Alone series, The Jerk, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Better Off Dead, Police Academy series, Blues Brothers, Meet the Parents/Fockers, Uncle Buck, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Peewee's Big Adventure, Teenwolf, Mannequin, Teenwich, 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Mean Girls, Sugar and Spice, The Parent Trap, The Gameplan, The Rundown, The Wizard, Drop Dead Fred, Little Monsters, Little Rascals, Little Giants, The Princess Bride. A lot of these aren't pure comedies, but put strong emphasis on humor.

Being from the UK I think our comedies are great, but I also like american comedies, just a personal preference to be honest.

Because American culture is crude and immature.

American Comedies suck so bad 99% of the case it's not even funny to categorize them as comedys. With the sole exception of The Big Lebowski and Airplane! (to mention a very select few and not counting all the British comedys). I guess the american view of movie comedy is insanely cliché and immature to generalize. The stuff that Eddie Murphy, Rob Schneider, Steve Martin etc has come out with as of late is nothing except pathetic and I haven't been able to laugh or even smile at a single new made comedy for ages.
