They really should make a movie out of The Silmarillion. Morgoth ftw.aaronmullan
'The Silmarillion', I think, would be too complex to turn into a movie. It's too many, essentially, short stories woven together. And aside from 'The Children of Hurin' Tolkien never expanded upon the stories with enough material to create a movie out of.
Gandalf is my favorite bad guy.
Forces an innocent & ignorant guy to take the weapon of mass destruction for that time and cross the country to get rid of it because he was too scared to do it.
Organize various peaceful peoples into a unified war against the established order, being Saruman just because he didn't get a promotion.
Committ genocide against a race just because they looked different and liked to live underground in a place the dwarves moved out of.
Plays dumb 100% of the time instead of directly stating the facts while pushing everyone in the direction he wants to go, how annoying.
Fakes his own death to ditch his companions so he can go party somewhere and then pulls a jesus to show off.
Just one of the many evil things Gandalf did.
i assume you are one of those who think Nato should have stayed out of Libya? the orcs were savaged murderers, Gandalf didnt force any peaceful people into war, he called Rohan to fight saruman because he wanted to liberate Rohan from evil. And he sent frodo to mount doom because he knew he would be too tempted by the rings power. And he didnt fake his own death? he got dragged down by a balrog. At this point.....not sure if your seriousGandalf is my favorite bad guy.

No, he's right. Gandalf may have done good but his motives were pure evil. Next time you go through the novels, read between the lines.

oh c'moooooooooooooon. You're telling me Gandalf is evil? he was created to help middle-earth fight evil. The mouth of Sauron appears on the movie for about 5 minutes. Gollum is on 2 movies and he isn't on the poll? What a logic.
Well Gollum I think deserves our sympathy because he turned evil because he was corrupted by the Ring, which is an "extension" of Sauron's malice. The mouth of Sauron appears on the movie for about 5 minutes. Gollum is on 2 movies and he isn't on the poll? What a logic.

Meh, The Hobbit is basically part of LOTR lore. Nothing wrong with saying Smaug. Why do people keep bringing up characters that are not actually in the 'Lord of the Rings'?

It's all part of the same lore, yes, but it's still not 'the Lord of the Rings'. It'd be about like asking who your favorite 'Star Wars: Episode II' character is and someone saying Lando Calrissian.

If he had asked us what our favorite bad guy from Two Towers was, then yeah. But I took "LOTR" to mean the overarching lore. Let's just blame TC for not being specific enough.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="Dark__Link"] Meh, The Hobbit is basically part of LOTR lore. Nothing wrong with saying Smaug.Dark__Link

I take "Lord of the Rings" to mean 'Lord of the Rings'. Sounded fairly specific to me (especially since it's so often printed in single-volume editions now, and since the TC mentioned the movies).

Maybe they wanted to choose a black guy only.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="Dark__Link"] Meh, The Hobbit is basically part of LOTR lore. Nothing wrong with saying Smaug.SolidSnake35

Maybe they wanted to choose a black guy only.Which does not negate the point. At all.
Technically the Lord of the Rings is just the story of the Lord of the Rings, Frodo's adventure. I probably wouldn't count Smaug as a LotR villain.
It is like saying your favourite Empire Strikes Back villain is Darth Malak
I'd probably say Sauron.

Witch-king>his servants Nah, i like them as a whole and their backstory.[QUOTE="Drakes_Fortune"]
These guys:

What no love for Gollum ?
Sure the ring corrupted to him but he was still a bad guy for 4/5ths of the Lord of the Rings.
Saruman.
The Nazgul from the first film come close, though. Didn't care much for them in the subsequent films.
