Who has been on GameSpot the longest?

One thing I can't help notice is that there are still a few people who joined GameSpot as far back as 2002 (That's 16 years ago!!). Thats awesome that people are still using this great website, and the community is growing strong. So who has the oldest active account?

Not sure who has the actual oldest, but I've posted here on and off since February of 2004. 13 years now.

I just started today :O but I do wish I was 16 years younger though. Those were the good days.

I've been coming here since the 90s. The first few years though, I just read things and didn't post. I still only occasionally post anything.

No idea, but I'm certainly here a long time considering this is my 2nd account after I lost my first one and even this (new) account is 13 years old now

nope. Lost my E-Mail when my parents switched the provider. Didn't remember the GS password. When I switched to a new PC, my password obvioulsy wasn't saved anymore. Couldn't reset without the mail. The support of GS was unwilling to help

I would try again- I recently recovered my account even though I didn't have access to the original email. As long as you either know what your old email is or what your username was, they will reset your email and password for you. They did it for me so I assume they will do it for you. I got my account back like 3 months or so ago.

My account's from 2008 but I have been visiting the site since it was videogames.com. Sometime in the 90's.

Quite sure i was around way before 2013, maybe not.

Longer than my account says. I think 2002 was when they changed to the current set up and I didn't sign up right away. Still have the _basic tag though.

Earliest I can remember is 97-98 back when it was called videogames.com, before that site merged with gamespot.com.

I been lurking here on Gamespot since 2011 and join early October 2014. Seen a lot of good old school GS users leaving due to the 2013 revamping the site.

I remember coming here in the late 90s to get cheat codes. Before that I used to get them from a website called "cheatheaven,com" but, to my disappointment, it closed down and the domain was taken and used as a forum for adulterers...

The family computer was on a wheelie desk and anytime I wanted to use the internet I would have to roll the computer to the other side of the room to where the telephone cable was, plug it in, dial up to the internet, browse for cheat codes as fast as I could and get the hell off again before my parents would notice the call on the bill, or god forbid, one of them would pick up the phone on the other side of the house and hear that bizarre internet signal. The internet was painfully slow, but it was still amazing as I didn't know any better.

I made an account in 2007 but stopped using it as my username too closely resembled my real name. Then I made this account in 2011 when I finally got high speed internet! Ah the memories.

I remember joining shortly before the Wii came out in 2007.

It'll be 12 years for me in April been a member since 2006 and still blogging and reviewing

Well, I've been here since September 2007, so it feels like over ten years now.

I still come by occasionally but I'm definitely not the oldest member, as far as active members go it looks like 2002 is the oldest that has popped up so far, I miss the old days though, OT used to be so active, now days it's practically a graveyard =(

2002 is when they created the new format so anyone here prior would not have had the same account. I know I was here before 02 and I'm sure others were as well.

I think you may have the record as far as active posters. I know there used to be a few who were around longer, but I haven't really seen them at all since I've been back.

2003 or 2004. Got banned too many times because mods were strict back then. I do have access to my old account after they updated the site but I never bothered going back to it.

I am an OG who has been here since GameSpot started. Those were the early days of video game sites. I used to visit Happy Puppy a lot too. I remember searching for new game sites on Web Crawler and Lycos. I was excited when they started videogames.com/gamespot.com and I have been here ever since.

Close...I'm 36. I was but a teen when I started coming here. And yeah...I used to go to videogames.com before it turned into gamespot, however that transition happened.

Mailer_daemon has been here long time too, hasn't he? Solidruss as well?

Yeah, they've been around as long as I can remember. Do they still even post?

Well i was here since 2005 until the good old days ended and everyone great left GS. Thats when i left as well. came back in 2017 under different name (who can remember the old name lol) just to see if things have gotten better haha, i wont answer that lol

i lurked for years before joining in 07.

there was some brilliant discussions back in the mid noughties. the pc forum was really busy back then and had some super knowledgeable regulars. there was one chap i remember called baranga who seemed to know everything about everything and whose posts were always really insightful and discussion provoking. like many he sadly left in the redesign exodus of '13.

such a shame that gs lost so many long established great posters

There are still several people here who've visited GS longer than me. I've been visiting since probably about this time in 2000, but didn't get around to making this account until July 2008. My account will be a decade old this year!

A lot of the familiar faces here did go away by the time of the site's redesign in.... I think it was late 2013?

2004 is when I started posting, but been checking out since 1997 when I believe it had another name, but could be wrong.

The design during the Greg Kasavin days was much better.

Yeah, I was here as well before then but can't even remember my original account, but I also didn't use it to post, just for news and such, so when I came back after a few years absence I just made a new account. lol How does it feel to be old? :P
