First of all I am looking for a guitar in the 300 - 450$ price range. I have a acoustic and my guitar teacher thinks I should get an electric so I really can do some things I could never learn on an acoustic and he says I will learn faster on an electric

Here are some of my ideas for some guitars.

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Standard-Telecaster-Electric-Guitar-516035-i1148830.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Standard-Stratocaster-Electric-Guitar-103630810-i1148847.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Melody-Maker-Dual-Pickup-Electric-Guitar-512641-i1173148.gc

By the way, I like to play classic rock and bit of other genres too. My favorite bands or artists are Allman Brothers, Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and others like that.

P.S. If you know any CHEAP amps that would go with one of these guitars or one you suggest please let me know.

Anything from the Ibanez RG series. Those are my favorite guitars. Really nice, and really affordable.

i say the tele. i just like the way it looks lol but ive heard it gives off a bright sound. best way to choose is to go into a guitar shop and try them out.

and for a cheap amp look for a fender frontman 15g. its what i use, but really, what do i know?

I like the look of the guitar but I worry about the sound. But the amp seems very good.

I have this one and love it! It's very easy to play and it has an acoustic output, which actually makes a good acoustic sound!

i think the tele would be aiight, just dont try to play any type of metal on it lol. as for the amp, are you talking about the amd i suggested? well dont get it, apparently a lot of other people have this problem with a buzzing sound it emits.

good call...they are good guitars for their price, I said it before but try a pawn shop, sometimes they have a really high end guitar for cheap because they think it isn't worth a penny......thats how I got my custom Hamer Vector.

ebay you can find used ones for around 4-600 and he couyld always go with an Epiphone Les Paul which would be around 2-300 and still sounds good for what he wants to play. thats what i did

That Epiphone looks good. While we're at it, would I be better off getting the Ibanez GRG170DX or the good ol' Dean Flying V for playing Thrash and Power Metal?

Sorry if I hijack the topic :P

Go to guitar center and try some guitars. Play some guitars and pick the one that you like the most. I will recomend an Epiphone or a Made in Mexico Fender. I own an epiphone les paul standard plus- top, a yamaha rbx 270, and a fender jazz bass. 8)
