For my English research paper, I can read one book off of a list of others, and I have narrowed it down to Catch 22, Slaughterhouse Five, and A Clockwork Orange.

The first 2 seem very similar, and their satirical style interests me, but I really want to read A Clockwork Orange to see just how controversial it is, however, the unfamiliar "slang" that the author puts into this kind of turns me off. Which one should I read? Keep in mind that the more thematic it is, the easier it is to do a research paper.

I enjoyed them all but if you're more interested in A Clockwork Orange then I would suggest you go with your instincts.

Slaughterhouse Five is great and very short so that's a good choice.

I prefer Catch-22, if only because I think it's written the best.

Is the slang that the author uses going to be confusing or not?

A Clockwork Orange. I've never read Catch-22, but Slaughter House Five wasn't that great IMO (I got the satire and the author's angle, but it just wasn't a very enjoyable read) and A Clockwork Orange was just a really great book.

I've read all three. I wasn't too fond of Catch-22, but the other two were excellent. If you really want to read A Clockwork Orange, then you should go for it. It's a fantastic book. It's a little hard to get into at first because of all of the odd slang that's used, but you'll get used to it eventually.
