Lets say like, you meet this nice girl in a video game. LBP2 for example. You start chat with her, get to know each other. Then you 2 or just you starting to feel that you, have feelings for her/him. You dont feel it like a simple "friendship" Then you 2, say to each other how you feel and all that. I know maybe, its nothing like real life. But still, is it possible for you? Is there such thing in your eyes?

I'm sure it's possible. Is it usually a good idea? Probably not. Especially if there's no chance that you'll ever meet the person.

I guess it's about as useful as the "Partyline" here in Chicago where strangers sometimes meet to bang each other right quick. Sometimes something real can flourish.

How so?

Just my opinion, but something along the lines of.....

There are so many people out there (unless you are stationed at some remote outpost). A little bit of conversation (even if "meaningful") and perhaps some online flirting drastically pales in comparison to all the things that people can (and I think should) experience and share in the real world.

But surely love is the connection between two minds/brains anyway. The only difference is sexual or physical attraction and love transcends that anyway i'm to believe.

I've seen it work a couple of times (as in, twice)... once on GS actually. Other than that however, in my years online I've seen nothing, but ugly failure. So... generally a poor idea IMO.

But it's not. It's not just a meeting of the minds (mentally) and not just sex (physically). There are quiet walks in the park, preparing meals together, waking up together, falling asleep beside eachother, so on and so forth.

But what is that about? People connecting, getting to know each other etc etc. You can do that by chatting. Hell what do you do on those quiet walks in the park, walk silently?

They are all physical things. Maybe some people just want to talk to each other, nothing more.

If you mean like "we're a couple in love, despite the fact that we've never met in person and won't the forseeable future" - it's absolute bullsh*t. If you mean developing a friendship with someone online then meeting them in person and someting springboarding from there - yeah, it can happen. It happened between my wife and I.

So they can. I gave an opinion.

Just as an aside, there have been a bunch of times over the years that the power has gone out, and we've had a candle and flashlight lit blast during the blackouts. When the internet goes down, so does the "internet love."

To answer one of your questions, yes. There is something to be said for people being comfortable with each other during silence. When people are geographically next to each other, you don't always need words.

I think it's the modern day equivalent of meeting somebody in a bar. While it is certainly possible that you could end up forming a meaningful long term relationship, the odds are stacked against you if for no other reason than the distance involved. Long distance relationships of any kind are very hard. They're even harder if the relationship you're trying to maintain has never been a SHORT DISTANCE one to begin with. So my advice would be to tread carefully and go slowly. It _can_ work out but odds are against it.

I think I'd forever withhold actual "love" from someone I'd only messaged with and exchanged pictures with over the internet. Though I could certainly become quite smitten with her. The thing is, how do you know she doesn't have a boyfriend, but also really enjoys talking to her fantasy internet boyfriend? You're the sensitive guy who listens to what she's got to say while her boyfriend is just interested in banging her all the time. Well now she's got it all.

And I would just have a really hard time actually loving someone without ever being in their presence. There are soooooo many non-verbal cues that people send each other that add up to some really important stuff in a relationship. I mean, when you're walking in the park and you take her hand, does she turn to you with that look that tells you that you just made her day? Or not? You know, a gazillion little things like that.

I have made some great friends online (even that was lucky), but apart from that i would say no. A relationship online is very unlikely to lead to anything worthwhile.

Maybe it could lead to something, but probably not.

I think it shows you are insecured about yourself and don't have the self-esteem to go out in the real world to find a real person and experience it. It some cases it may help when you are seeking for a specific women in different areas to meet up eventually, but to actually stay static and only date online? I'm not sure about that one.

Well I don't believe you can love someone on xbox or the internet, maybe you can have a crush on them or something, but not love. Although I was talking to a guy on xbl and he said he met his wife through xbl. Lol I was so surprised.

I don't think you can call it love until you actually meet in person

Talking online is just that, text maybe a few emoticons and a screen

I met a couple in world of warcraft. Found out they lived around 40 min drive away. We grouped daily. When her boyfriend was at work she was quite flirtatious. Hearing all the horror stories about how they prob look like an ogre in real life or its a dude I asked for an actual picture. She sent me a couple, she wasn't a super model or anything but she was cute aka f--kable aka worth a 40 min drive. She informed me that her BF had cheated on her in the past and gave her a hall pass essentially to make it even. She invited me one day to come and do the deed.

I neglected to do so. I told her BF all about it and showed chat logs to him and he promptly kicked her out.

One pwned cheating beeotch.

I don't believe in cheating. Would you want someone to do that to you ? I considered the guy a friend, even if it was just in WOW and thats not something I would do to a friend. If you would then you need to learn about honour.

I don't think I could get feelings for someone over video games.

Although I would think it's possible that if I did meet a girl, and we were good friends online and played a lot of games together and she happened to live near me. If we trusted each other and actually hung out.

Then I could possibly have feelings for her, but I don't think that would ever happen. It's more likely that I find a girl that I like that happens to already play video games.

You did the very honorable thing. I congratulate you. People that cheat are pretty sickening to me, they should be single if they want to be with multiple people.
