I've not seen so many of the movies which people have mentioned so far. On the other hand the movies I like are not in anyone's list. Do I need to watch more Asian movies or is it just that my taste is a lot different?

You watched some good movies, maybe try watching The Hero, Fearless, Once Upon a time in China I and II, IP man I and II. Matches with the movies you mentioned as they based on once real life chinese heroes :)

Thanks :-) I've watched all of them except for once upon a time in China but I didn't know they are based on actual heroes. (except for IP man)

China has a truly amazing history and I like it more than Japan's history and culture. (Maybe that's the reason I prefer these movies). Japan is great as well though.

You are welcome Alim, Once Upon a time in China is based upon chinese revolutionary Wong Fei Hung. See only Tsui Hark's Once Upon a time in China Part 1 and 2. Rest are crap. Chinese folklore is mysterious and awesome. From time to time i try to catch the good action adventure movies :)

P.S - Hope you've watched Jet Li's Fist of Fury, 36th chamber of Shaolin and Donnie Yens Iron Monkey too :)
