The Wheel of Time series is my favorite series of all time. But i cant really choose a single book. The Witcher series is also really good.

LOTR is a great series, though i enjoyed the hobbit much more.

My favorite is easily Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas. If you can get through it the story is absolutely incredible.

Dune by Frank Herbert. The whole original series is amazing, and the Brian Herbert books...not so much. But some are OK.

And I guess Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy. A bit dated by this point, but it is really interesting to read how a conventional World War would unfold in West Europe and the North Atlantic.

Yeah I don't have amazing tastes in literature. I mean Dune is awesome, it's "The Lord of The Rings of Sci-Fi", but I don't really read much of "the classics" lol.

This a really hard question, I have read so many books in my life time. Several of the books mentioned in this thread I have read and liked. I haven't stayed with one gene of books but have read many Right now I am reading the Heritage of Shannara series.

Way of Kings or Words of Radiance. (First 2 books in the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson)

From the same author, there's also the Mistborn Trilogy which rank very high on my list.

There are a lot of really good books, but these are some of my favorite. Wheel of Time is really good as well.

Taking a series as a whole? Malazan: Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson is easily my favorite series. I could write a novel just describing how much I love the various characters and plotlines.

Individual books? 1984 or Brave New World. I don't think any other books have really opened my eyes as much about how the political system works.

Probably either Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption or Flowers for Algernon. Both have complex, strong themes. Shawshank couples that with perfect execution, while Algernon's themes manage to transcend it's imperfect execution.

Star Wars Darth Bane Trilogy books is my favorite Star Wars books by far and I have read those books again and again from time to time.

Darth Bane was very important to the Sith Order for creating the Rule of Two and it's what brought the Jedi Order Down as you can see in Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith and Darth Sidious use The Rule of Two well done to fulfilled that legacy Darth Bane created a Millennium ago.

Yesssssssssss. Sanderson is a great writer and he puts books out like crazy.

Also Patrick Rothfuss and his Kingkiller series is easily one of my favorites. Probably on the same level as Wheel of Time.

Glad to see Malazan mentioned too.

Hmm

  1. The Dark Tower series, Stephen King
  2. Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, Tolkein
  3. Harry Potter series, Rowling...hey, they were fun reads
  4. The Stand, King

I don't read as much as I used to. If I pick up a book before bed, I'm not getting to sleep until 2 or 3am.

Easily Lord of the Rings. One could argue against it's simplicity of story, and they would sort of be right as it comes down to a story of good vs evil, but it's truly an epic tale that is written beautifully. Check this list of excerpts and view how it's written. So much poetry is woven into the story that it's simply a joy to read. Frankly it's been too long for me, and I simply must set some time aside to read it once again.

This all would have been moot if it wasn't for Dave Filoni.

Any number of books about the Zulus. I've always been fascinated with the Zulus as a mobile fighting force. They were often regarded as cavalry because of their mobility.
