i remember when i first heard of the goo goo dolls i thought it was a girl band. then when i saw one of their vids on mtv i was like why would a guy band have dolls in their name.

Their original name was the Sex Maggots but then some guy made them change their name right before a show. One of the band members was flipping through a magazine and there was an add for a 'goo goo doll'. So they said that was their band name for the show and then never changed it back after they became more well known.
