It's an odd but straight forward question. I'm just curious.

My worst injury was back when I was 8. My dad was working up on the side of our house siding and he was standing on our metal extension ladder. I was down below watching when he started to wobble. He yelled to run as had to jump off the ladder (He was fine). I ran. I ran right into the exact spot where the peak of the latter hit. It whacked right in the back of my head; the end result was I needed a dozen staples and had slight crack in my skull. I still have a doozey of a scar and a slight dent where it hit.

So anyway what's your worst.

CRT TV fell on my head. Left a dent. Hurts whenever I slightly injure that spot.

Tore both my ACLs at different points in my life. Left one when I was in my early 20s in a sparring match, then my right one in my late 30s also in a sparring match. Had surgery on both at the time it happened. Left one came back 100% and then some. Right one is getting there but recovery takes a while and I've got a bit to go, still. Other than that, no real bad injuries and no broken bones in my life.

Oh, and when I was a teenager I got bit by a chocolate Easter Bunny and needed several stitches in my hand. Forgot about that.

I've been fortunate, not many bad injuries. I'm sturdily built, though, maybe I owe it to that?

Stepped on a nail once, went two inches in. Thankfully I was a young kid and my tetanus shot was still working (I think?).

A car ran over my toe when I was kid. Still, pretty lucky though, a feet or two further in and it would have been more than stumping around for a few weeks.

@balrogbane:

When I was little, I used to play on the arm rest of my dad's expensive couch and kicked on the wall alot. This was a normal thing for me and one day, my mom decided to put up a mirror near that couch directly untop of the same arm rest. And when I did my usual thing again, the mirror fell on my head and blood literally started gushing out. I was so scared that I was about to die but I put pressure on the wound and it eventually stopped after like, an hour.

Till this day, I still have the scar on my forehead. It was so bad that it made a dent on my skull too. But it's ok though, momma's precious mirror did NOT break! Lol!

I stapled my thumb. The stapler wouldn't work so I opened it and I was like hmm, maybe I should just press it here and see what happens. And apparently I fixed it. Didn't hurt at all, but it was still a stupid thing to do... Twice so far.

Yeah, those things can be vicious. I was holding it with one hand and trying to cut off a chunk to eat with a very sharp steak knife in the other hand when it bit me.

At 5 years old I was dashing around the house and slammed my head against the edge of the washing machine and got knocked out. By the time someone came to see where I was I had almost bled out. It was a close one.

Fell down the stairs on my knees and they got all swollen and full of liquid; since I hated hospitals I forced the knees to bend and the whole thing kind of ruptured and exploded.

At school I got pushed out a window and shattered my forearm.

As a teen I was late for my TaeKwonDo lesson so I went straight in without warming up. During a spinning kick I tore almost all the tendons in my leg.

Moral of the story...I'm an idiot and my body is all messed up.

If you're trying to suggest that I simply cut myself with a steak knife while trying to foolishly cut through a chocolate bunny, I have two points to refute that theory:

1) The bunny was advertised as being solid milk chocolate, so there's no way that there was say... a surprise giant air pocket right in the middle that the knife would suddenly slice through unexpectedly. It said "solid" right on the box.

2) I was a Boy Scout in my youth, and how to cut properly is one of the first things they teach you. It's hard to imagine that any Boy Scout would do something as dumb as forget all of that and cut towards himself instead of away.

The aftermath of a viscous chocolate bunny attack

The interesting thing is it went clean through my skin (about 1" long cut) but luckily didn't cut anything underneath. For a couple of seconds I could see -into- my hand and all the tissue under the skin (which was more of a yellowish grey than I expected). Then the blood came by the bucket load.

Nothing serious. Fractured my elbow when I was younger, took a lot of physio to get full movement in my arm again. A few years back I cut the tip off my finger with a kitchen blender (through the nail and broke off a bit of bone). Fortunately I was able to get it stitched back on.

Can't remember my exact age, between 3 to 5 years old?, I ran inside the house and hit a big stereo speaker which had a big ceramic lamp on top of it and it fell on my head. Taken to the hospital for stitches and 'till this day whenever I get a low enough haircut the bald spot is there to remind me.

I had a botched biopsy at 20 that nearly killed me if that counts. Amateur surgeon cut into my chest to get a sample of tumor tissue. Accidentally cut too deep and right into my subclavian. Bled out 75% of blood volume on the table before an experienced surgeon had no choice but to seal my artery completely. I woke in the ICU so weak I literally could not muster enough strength to lift my arm 6 inches off the bedsheet.

Otherwise I had both my big toenails ripped off their beds and back, one by a door slamming open, another by a skimboard. I had to go to the hospital and get them completely pulled off without anasthesia (didn't have to, but the asshat doctor said it'd be less painful then numbing shots and I was only 6 or so so I agreed. Asshole).

I use to have seizures a lot back in 2001 to 2004. Worst injury I had was having one these. I had it at work while walking back to reception. The floor was them right small but sharp edge stones them like you get in a car park. Any way I was on my own but after a bit a work mate was going back to reception too and saw me splatted out on floor. She said blood was every where. It turned out I got a broken nose bashed teeth in and my lip was half hanging off. I had 18 stitches along with 2 black eyes and badly bruised ribs. The only thing I can remember was trying to get up and walk off. My boss was that at this point and phoning for ambulance trying to stop me from moving. But that all I can remember.

I got headbutted in the mouth when I was 9, playing hide and seek. Both my maxillary central incisors died, and my right one did a 5 meter flight carrying its root with it, turning my gums inside out.

While the impact was painful enough, the most painful thing was the surgery I had to go through to fix it. I got to the surgeon that was supposed to see me super late and she realized she had to put my tooth in and stitch my gums immediately otherwise I'd start scarring and the damage would be irreversible. And with immediately I do mean "immediately". She panicked as soon as she opened my mouth, asked a nurse to help keep me still, and stitched me back without anesthetic.

That's messed up...my niece got kicked in the mouth by a horse when she was about 7...her mouth looked like she had tried to eat a firecracker....

Did you get any lasting damage from it or are you ok now?

Yes, but it shows very little and only if I want it to.

The remaining scar is a very small bump on my upper lip which becomes skin-colored instead of lip-colored when I stretch the skin. As far as the teeth go, I have two ceramic prostheses implanted with titanium screws, you wouldn't be able to tell they're fake. Ah and also, I'm missing that annoying membrane between the upper lip and the maxilla gums whose english name I do not know.

Broken collar bone jumping off the bed as a kid.

Running in the forest & tripping on a stump and smashing my face on a rock splitting my lip requiring stitches.

Broken collar bone sledding when I was a teenager. Didn't notice there was a cliff.

Sliced fingers open at work requiring stitches.

Bar brawl I had to get stitches in my knuckles.

Stitches in right hand after punching through a window for some drunken reason.

I'd say the worst. Cutting my ball sack open by accident trying to trim my taint. For some reason the skin got caught in the trimmers and I felt this little ffrrrvvv... didn't hurt then all this blood started gushing out almost passed out. You cut you weiner or bag and you bleed like a stuck pig.

Mine would definitely be snapping my arm doing arm wrestling, I was in a cast for a few months in great pain.

Shame I couldn't take a bath properly without getting my cast signatures wet.

Anyone else broken their arm doing this sport or even had a muscle injury to arm wrestling?

Lesson learnt: Don't arm wrestle anyone, especially kids, or your own.

I fell 25 feet out of a window last night. Not even joking. I've got some compression fractures or something in my back, but I'm obviously lucky I didn't die or get paralyzed. Was supposed to get a Jewett brace today but the hospital didn't have any. The whole thing is surreal.

mostly broken bones ( collar bone, wrist, nose, cheekbone ) or muscle/tendon injuries ( too many to count ) from 30+ years of playing soccer

worst though would probably be a skull fracture i suffered as an infant falling from a shopping cart in a grocery store. i guess that's why those cars have seat belts now.

Played some football, slippery grass, fell and hit the back of my head. For a few days or so my short term memory only extended back about 20 seconds. It was like in the movie memento but even shorter time spans. And no tattoos.

When I was three I broke my left femur (the main bone in the upper part of your leg). I don't remember it that well but I was in the hospital for a couple weeks with a full body cast, then had to lie on a skateboard type thing to wheel myself around the house for a while.

Otherwise, I fractured both my wrists on separate occasions (one wrist on each occasion), one time by trying to break my fall when running on a sand-stone beach, another time inner-tubing down some rapids and somehow getting my write caught between two rocks

most recently I sprained my thumb pretty badly by falling out of a canoe in shallow water, I put out my hand to break my fall and it hit a rock in the water and my thumb bent backwards. Was about a month and a half ago but still kinda hurts when I do certain actions with my thumb.

Worse I can think of is spraining both my ankles....

I had plenty of very painful experiences though. Off the top of my head:

  • When I worked as a carpenter I've stepped on a nail that pierced halfway through my foot, had my boss throw one of those wall hanging double door cabinets at my face (messed up the alignment of the middle of my top and bottom row teeth), and ran my shin into the edge of a concrete block which left a gash that took over 2 weeks just to simply stop bleeding let alone begin healing (left a nice scar).
  • Back in High School, a group of guys who mistake me for being part of some gang smashed an empty 40 oz beer bottle on the side of my face which left a long lasting cut mark starting from my left ear, traveling just above my left eye, and ending near the center of my forehead. I was hurt so bad that I honestly thought I was gonna end up losing my left eye given the effects I was having after I got hit (Color was rapidly changing in that eye as if I was looking through a Kaleidoscope Glass or similar to looking at a star powerup in those early 2D Mario games.). I ended up recovering though and able to see just fine, though now my left eye is more sensitive to light and dust particles than it previously was...
  • Cracked one of my molars in half when I was eating some chips. Since I couldn't afford to go to the dentist, I had to endure 2-3 weeks of sleepless nights and agonizing pain. I was in so much pain that I would've been desperate enough to use a gun to blow half my damn jaw off just to get rid of the tooth. Was able to get the pain under control after buying and using toothpaste that specialize in dealing with tooth ache.

Let me preface this by saying that I have Bipolar I and PTSD. I was unmedicated for it as a teen. I began to self medicate with sleeping and pain pills (taken for a painful physical disorder). At 16 I nearly died from an overdose. I know this isn't a classic injury, but since it nearly killed me and I ended up in the hospital I felt the need to post. Glad I have gotten past that time in my life.

Dislocated my left shoulder twice in the same week. Broke my collarbone. Snapped my lower right leg which left me with a slight limp. Growing up in Scotland I worked with horses. Some of em were very feisty and temperamental.

I'm still alive so nothing of any impact apparently.

Everyone in my life isn't allowed to talk about how they're hurt. If you're still alive you weren't hurt, you're just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Surgery stories are fun though. I allow those.

@Jaysonguy: Or we are trying to make conversation. I am proud to have survived nearly dying. I tell the story when similar topics come up (not often, but still). Not to complain but to talk about how happy I am to be alive.

I've had a few I don't know which is worse. I chopped the tip of my finger off with a hatchet. I had a 200lb pallet land on my big toe. My whole toe turned purple. I fell and cracked my skull on the pavement. I was partially blind in one eye for a week. I punched a brick wall and broke 3 bones in my hand. The worse and most painful thing I have ever felt was a kidney stone. It hurt so bad I thought I was going to pass out.

Took a trailer dolly leg crank handle to the head. I was lowering the legs onto the ground, it tensed up and swung back and hit me in the forehead. Knocked me to the ground, absolute searing pain and blood everywhere. Didn't hit my eye, didn't hit my jaw or teeth, only nine stitches and a killer headache. I ended up with a badass scar and an underwhelming story to go with it.

Worst injury I ever had is when I fractured my wrist. I was running from a dog and jumped a fence the wrong way (Rolled a 5 on my athleticism check and failed). Fractured my wrist and had to get a cast.
