What was the dead give-away in Inglorious Bastards (The bar scene)?

*SPOILERS!* When the German was sitting at the table with all the fake Germans, one guy said, "Three," and then the German stated that he is now pointing a gun at his testicles. I'm sure there's some custom in Germany that's different than our own, but what was it? *END SPOILERS!*

By the way, Eli Roth directed three awful movies, but he wasn't half-bad in this one. He directed Hostel, Hostel: Part 2, and Cabin Fever. Yuck.

Because Germans use their thumb, index finger, and middle finger to show "three"...Americans use their index, middle, and ring finger (according to the movie, anyway). The fake German did it the american way.

I found that kind of weird. It was a kick ass movie though.
