The best one my parents made was fried egg with spam in a butty and Ribena. Had my daily dose of Vitamin C and protein :D I avoided crisps in my lunch box because I didn't like school kids begging for crisps.

What about you? What did you have in your school lunchbox?

PB&J, CapriSun, those little bread stick snacks that you dip in cheese, Hot Pockets, egg sandwiches I remember, fruit rollups, etc.

Stopped taking lunches when we came to America. Can't remember what I took before the fourth grade.

Stopped taking lunches to school when I reached grade 5. Before that I think it was an apple,1 sandwich,3 chocolate chip cookies and a thermos of soup.

Brown bag lunch. Usually consisting of:

  • One sandwich, either turkey or PB&J
  • One fruit, usually an apple or an orange
  • One beverage, almost always a Capri Sun
  • One dessert, often a granola bar but often three cookies like Pecan Sandies or something.

Never had a lunchbox. Went to schools that provide their own meals; including a prep school that made it mandatory. "Finish everything on the plate or you can't leave." That kidney stew... ...I'll just skip this one and go hungry, thanks.

Usually a boxed juice of some kind, fruit snacks or Fruit Rollups or something like that, Lunchables sometimes, but my mom would often make a PBJ or deli sandwich for me... that was half the time, other half was school lunch from cafeteria.

Is a brown bag lunch still a thing? I have never seen them in my school in the UK. Must be a USA thing.

My mother made terrible sandwiches. She always used to butter up/down, didn't matter what was in it, all you could taste was butter.

Traumatic memories.

We don't have lunchboxes as school day ends at 2pm generally. So I just ate at home with the rest of my family.

I grew up in and still live in a european country where there was school lunch every day so i almost never needed a lunch box except for if there was some excursion day or something.

Free school lunch in the schools. Well, not exactly free, tax funded. Someone pays in the end. But free for the kids. The quality of the food was....okay for the most part.

On the other hand, there was no free school bus. At least not for me but i lived in biking distance from the schools i went to.
