What's an appropriate age to send someone to prison for 1st degree murder?

Same, if a psychologist can prove the individual knew the consequences of their actions, and can show the individual knows the difference between right and wrong I think the sentencing should be treated the same whether they're a minor or not.

I think the age should be that at which a person can form mens rea (i.e. criminal intent), which I believe is fourteen.

it's never appropriate to send anyone to prison; it's just seems like the best thing we can do.

Isn't there some age where you cannot be tried on criminal offences? I think it's less than 10 years old, or something. I think someone 13 and over is fully aware of what murder is, and can be a criminal.

Of course it does. I used a humorous video from the great Captain James Hook to express my opinion that people shouldn't be sent to prison, but just be killed outright or how Mr. Hook so eloquently it stated: "Kill em, kill em all". >_>
