It's newer, and less mainstream. It'll fade in a year or so.

Better security, more add-on/personalization potential, not a Microsoft product. The more I learn about web design the more disgusted I get with MS's stuff. They've been responsible for holding certain elements of CSS back for like 10 years now and it took them five years to catch on to tabbed browsing. It's absurd.

I am on firefox right now and have been for a few years. You get way less pop ups, don't have to worry about spyware unless you actually click it yourself (and even then it's harder to do), better screen space usage, more options, tabs work better, better programming all around, supports full web standards unlike IE, uses less memory.....need any more reasons?

All the above reasons, plus IE is directly linked to MS windows which is a major target for hackers. MS is getting better with security but with IE, Outlook and Windows all part of the same company it's a easy mark.

IE6 had a lot of security issues that microsoft didn't seem to mind not fixing... ever. Instead, Firefox came around with an update every few months of so (Instead of every 6 years) and you could create customized addons to bulk up security or do whatever you would like.

Default Firefox is no better than IE7, but with extensions and skins Firefox can be a real powerhouse.

Yeah, it used to be less mainstream. But I actually liked it because of the fact that it was so small in terms of memory footprint back in teh day, and was super lightweight...Now its become too n00b friendly.

IE's major fault is its rendering engine - Trident - is very different to those of other browsers and conforms less to the W3C standards, which often makes it problematic for web design. Other than that I see no crippling flaws with it. It used to be very insecure but nowadays it's really not as bad as some would lead you to think. It doesn't have as many add-ons available as Firefox does (though it still has plenty of decent add-ons available for it, like IE7Pro. Unlike firefox it doesn't support the ability to change the skin of the browser, IE's appearance is based on the Windows theme, if you really want to change how IE looks then get a new theme for Windows.

how cam your computer even handle that :|

actually IE only has one use for me, watching porn. you see this way I can delete all traces of my activities without worrying about taking out the stuff I would actually like to keep in firefox.

Mozilla strives to provide the user with an extremely secure browsing experience. With addons like AdBlockPlus and NoScript I really don't know why everyone uses FireFox. IE is one of the biggest online security risks ever created and no amount of secondary software can prevent your system from becoming infected (the only thing you can do is remove the stuff after its on your PC). FireFox just stops nearly everything (no system prevents everything) before it even has a chance to download to your computer.

You should definitely switch browsers as soon as possible.

Pretty much the understatement of the year right there. :P

This is probably one of the worst major websites on the internet where obtrusive ads interfere with the browsing. AdBlockPlus is one way of having total access without paying for the privilege.

Mozilla is safer to use, it protects you more than oprah or IE does. but the major thing that all Firefox users like, is that firefox is soo much faster at loading webpages, try it out yourself, you'll see the difference :)

That does get annoying after a while. It's at 100,000 K right now but I leave it on for a while longer, it'll reack 300,000k and it starts slowing down my computer. :|

Firefox overall for me has given a better experience overall, and while I'm not familiar with all the tech-savvy details behind why it's better than IE. Frankly, it just works faster and it's more expandable and it isn't constrained by Microsoft's lock of "This is what you get, so deal with it" sort of thing.

Firefox is the "new" thing to do now a days for the fake anti-microsoft people that use Windows but like to act like they hate M$ in fact firefox isn't that fast really if you want the fastest most robust on Windows use Opera if you want the fastest browser ever then you need to switch to Linux and use Galeon, Dillo, Kazehakase, or swiftfox. Kazehakase is probably the most lightweight browser out there and its really quick and loading
