LG Xpression. Got it for 99 cents at the ATT store. Still it was a big upgrade over my previous tracfone (which I had unknowingly let expire), my newer phone can take pictures and record videos, and has both touch screen and a slide-out keyboard, with the tracfone I had to type from the number buttons which made texting take longer (For instance to type "b" I would hit the 2 button twice, to type "a" I hit it once, and to type "c" I hit it three times, to type "d" I hit the 3 button once, and so on).

Galaxy S5. love it.

though the stock music app decides to randomly skip songs or just pause a song for no reason. gets annoying at times.

a fairphone (aka the smell your own fart phone :P j/k).

i like it.

its quite heavy for a phone. it was heavy by the standards of its release date and even more so now. but it feels very solid.

also a bit overpriced for what you get.

but it came rooted, there was no bloat on it (so even after a year of use its been running like a champ), its built like a tank, the battery can be replaced and, even though there has been problems with the chipset drivers in terms of getting newer versions of android onto the phone (the fairphone crowd have admitted that mediatek was the wrong call) they will be continuing to release updates/security patches for the phone for the next 2 years or so. so good support.

i dont think i will replace it for a few years anyway. im not a heavy app user so it serves me very nicely.

Note 4. It's a beast. Got it the day I came out. Since it's not that often I get a new phone, I wanted the best I could get at the time. I initially picked the G3 but I didn't like its screen (LED and over-sharpening filter = gross) and had some really weird music playback issues, so I switched it out. Was lucky the Note 4 came out at the exact same time I returned my G3. Was a little risk with the Nexus coming out, but it seemed to pay off going for the Note 4 because the reviews seem to slightly favor it. It's so good I don't even need to root it.

Big screens are great for porn, too.

S3 and I foresee it to remain that way until, like 2025. I just use things until they literally start to fall off. Years ago (2006 or something) I had a crappy Samsung phone and the phone carrier gave me one for free since they were introducing some new chip technology and I was like the last person carrying on.

Moto X

If I continue to have my choice, I'll stick with the Moto or Nexus lines until someone else starts offering vanilla Android on a decent handset.

Sony Xperia Z1.

Pro's: It's fast has an awesome battery life, and uses an awesome version of android that works with drag and drop like mechanics with my pc. Is also water proof up to 1 meter.

Cons: Typing is a bitch and often it gives me shit like a u when I hit an a key (I no longer text it's so bad and anoying) , it's a bit big, and it comes loaded with tones of spyware/apps that have no business being on my phone unless I put them there. Oh and I can't delete them as they are built into the OS.

Will I buy one again? No. Unless sony shows security, and not loading a bunch of shit on my phone I can't remove is now a priority I won't be coming back. Actually been having my eye on the black phone. May be over priced but I'd rather pay a premium for security then a premium for a product that assumes I want spybook and Tweetershit on my phone.

  • Terrible app selection

Just a cheap Telstra phone.

Even with a smartphone now, all I still really use it for is making and receiving calls (and sometimes portable internet).

Yeah the Note 4 really is the best phone out right now, I love it.

That new Galaxy S6 Edge does look pretty sweet although it does seem like a gimmick. I also couldn't imagine going back to a smaller screen then the Note 4.

I love my Note 4 as well. The S6 looks nice, but not being able to add memory through an sd card or swap out a battery is a turn off. I hope this isn't something they plan on doing to all their products in the future.

I upgraded from an iPhone 4 16GB to an iPhone 6 64GB. Was needed badly, no space and was barely chugging along. Enjoying it so far, though the new Galaxy S6 Edge is pretty nice.

My Galaxy S4 is free.

Yep, our iPhones as well. Both my wife and I have our own companies and it's an incentive offered to companies (it's easy enough to see if it's free or not...just compare the rates with with non-company plans that don't offer the phones...)

Well, I mean, it's not exactly free, there's just no monetary cost. They give me an iPhone every year in exchange for a year contract. If I cancel my contract with them at any time during that year I'm forced to return the phone but the company is good and their plans are cheap so I don't have a problem with that.

@johnd13: Sure, move over here and start a company XD
