I work at an Italian restaurant called Romano's Macaroni Grill, Friday-Monday. On Fridays and Saturdays I buss tables, which is $7.25/hour plus tips, so if it's busy and the servers get tipped well, I get tipped well. On Sundays and Mondays, I wash dishes for $9.50/hour. I was originally hired as a dishwasher in July of 2012, so I've been there for over a year. My supervisor gave me some bussing shifts that started last March or April if my memory is correct.

For a 20 year old college student, I'd say I make decent money. Dishwashing can be a pain in the ass because I get hot and sweaty, and I feel like I haven't showered in a week at the end of the night, but since I'm making $2.25 above the lame ass minimum wage, I can deal with it. Also, a lot of the waitresses are hot, so there's always that.

I'm a co op at an engineering firm in the electronics and actuators group. I like it, but I do a lot of mundane stuff like soldering connectors and doing tests that consist of move the probes to a different wire, take a picture.

I volunteer as a research assistant for a physics lab at my university. Our research focuses on high intensity lasers and their interactions with matter. For the last few weeks I've been helping with data analysis for one of the experiments, and it can get stressful at times but it's very interesting work and I enjoy it. I've been told that things are looking good for the budget as of late, and I should be getting hired soon. I also recently got hired as a tutor for the university, and I should be starting that next week.

I think that's normal. Gets easier as you find methods to follow. Or you can wing it most days like me.

I'm an editor for Tremble Productions, which is my cousin's film production company in Chicago. We mainly make travel vids and documentaries,  but we'll be helping friends with a couple features in October which will be a blast. Just moved up here to the city and I have to say I absolutely love the job so much. I'm going to school for film, so already being able to work in the industry is great for me.

I currently work as a cashier at Wal-Mart. It's not the most terrible job in the world. Customers are the biggest idiots I've ever seen, but the job is rather easy. I'm stuck here until the economy picks up and I can get a job elsewhere.

Maintenance Associate (Janitor) at Wal-Mart since July 2012. The work sometimes sucks, some of the managers treat you like minions, and the customers don't really care about your job unless it involves you getting them something they need. But, I've met some cool people and I enjoy helping my fellow associates.

I'm a shipper/receiver and summer LTL delivery driver for a major western Canadian concession supply company. The work is physically demanding but rewarding and has introduced me to my passion: truck driving. I'm more comfortable behind the wheel of a 5-ton Freightliner BC M2 than my Kia Rio5. In the next couple years I'd like to get my Class 1 (Class AZ/CDL for non-Manitobans) and work for one of the major LTL/FTL shippers in Manitoba, like Gardewine, Manitoulin, etc. And perhaps one day buy my own truck and O/O.

I work in a retail store doing customer service, and also at a postal outlet. I wouldn't say I 'like' either of them, people have ridiculous hissy fits over stuff I can't control, eg being short staffed, something is out of stock, how much your package costs to send (yes, I am AWARE the postal service is gouging you but there is NOTHING I can do about it, we don't set prices nor can we change them), or why your package isn't here yet. My favorite for the post office is when people demand their packages without proper ID. I had a man who had immigrated here (so therefore, must have had some government issued ID from SOME government, unless he literally rowboated it over here and hiked the mountains to civilization) who couldn't BELIEVE I had the audacity to insist his name badge from his job and his costco card were not adequate ID.

I am a theoretical physicist working in a top secret underground research facility. I love my job, making the world a better place doing my bit for science, but there is a creepy looking Goverment looking guy always there in the distance observing, but I can never seem to reach him, he is very mysterious. My and my friend Barney call him the G-man.

Bruin4ev3r1520

Damn... I might have that job soon. What was so terrible about it?

The job itself is what you'd expect, just long hours of heavy stocking and cleaning. It wasn't too bad, aside from the exhaustion by the end of the night. My hatred comes more from the fact that my supervisors and managers were constantly on my ass about hurrying up to do jobs that could possibly kill me if I did them too quickly or wrong (yelled at me to just tackle a fridge into the overhead when I was on the automatic ladder, etc.). It's long hours, your work is rarely appreciated, absolutely no benefits (not even an employee discount), your treated more as a disposable mop than an asset to the store, and then they just let me go with only 4 days notice. Never received a complaint from me, never late, always did my work, and I received a Homer Award for keeping the store cleaner than it had been in years (straight from the store manager's mouth), and they let me go because I "didn't show good work ethic", which I later found out from the garden manager was because it took me 6 hours to pressure wash the outside garden section and took longer stacking wood and mulch because I wanted to make sure there was room for all of it. I was literally fired because I spent too much time making sure I was doing my job well, not because I slacked off or became a liability.

Word of advice, don't do your entry-level job well, just do it well enough.

I've been working as a novice Ruby on Rails web developer for about 3 months so far. It's quickly getting tiresome because of an insufferable project manager, but at least I'm getting experience and a little bit of money on the side. I hope it ends soon.

I manage a e commerce store that sells scooter parts and accessories, going to open a new one that deals with gym and fitness equipment and possibly bicycles. But it doesn't take up all my time and was thinking to pick up a job at a local company that does tech support they are opening a new project for microsoft for the xbox one, sounds interesting.
