The question is simple : what is your favorite french film?

I think I saw one in French class in high school. The teacher made us watch it without english subtitles so I had no idea what was going on.
The best part is, for many of them, even with subtitles, you may still not understand what's happening. I like that, at least for Godard, story was there... but that's not what makes me like them... it's more how they are presented and poetic they are.
Anyway, My favorite is probably Made in USA. It was Alphaville for awhile, but upon second viewing, I didn't like it as much. Though a third viewing may be in order. The opposite happened with Week End, though... which I didn't care for the first time, but absolutely loved the second time.
Pierrot le fou is great as well. And just watched Mood Indigo the other day, which was fun in good Gondry fashion.
Too many to think of an individual favorite...but I'll go with The Mother and the Whore for the moment as it's definitely one of my favorites and it's been bouncing around my head this past week as well as La Belle Noiseuse and Caché.
The intouchables no contest there. If you haven't already watched this movie yet, do yourself a favor and watch it now, right now. A friend recommended it and I owe her big time for that. The movie just did it for me. The plot progresses smoothly without making you feel bored for a second. You enjoy the movie just as thoroughly from start to end. It was an orgiastic feast of the senses in how it combined humor, melancholy, romance and cultural differences in a really authentic and harmonic way. The actors, specially Omar Sy, did an exceptional job with their roles. They and their performances are all captivating, vibrant, authentic and talented.
Love me if you dare comes second, but truth be said, I still haven't watched many French movies but I'm getting there.
