Nile is playing in Seattle on Wednesday, and I'm considering going with my friends. However, what do people do for 3-4 hours at a death metal concert? I know some people mosh, but my knee is injured right now and I'm not too into moshing either way. What else is there to do?

Then you stand in the back, or if they have a balcony, go up there and just watch. That's what I did at a metal show last night, got up on the balcony and watched the chaos below, very entertaining.

Yeah. Unless you want to get beaten up, go to the back.

It matters what genre and the size of the concert/gig.

Like I said, it's Nile. Technical death metal is the genre.

Just stand there and listen if you're not up for moshing. Stay away from the mosh pit if you don't want to mosh. If you're standing too close to the mosh pit, they won't really care if you don't want to mosh.

Just watch the band play, if you don't want to get involved in the mosh pits you can avoid them.

I was responding to the title, anyways once your closer to the band people will be head banging, farther away there will be mosh pits.

You can: 1: Find a front place and headbang 2: Join a moshpit 3: Stand further in the back and simply enjoy the music (the sound is better in the back/on balconies). What else is there to say?

I generaly dont go do Death metal concerts cuz im not realy a fan of it...

Well some people get so drunk they dont know up from down and right for north... Then you got Headbanging... But Metal is preaty ruthless with the beats so watch yourself, i totaly wasted my neck muscles on my first few concerts, and that doesent feal good in the mornin'. Ofcourse you could just get yourself in the first row and just rest on the railing/stage.

And the crowd at small metal concerts is preaty much one huge mosh pit so.. yeah :D

Metal concerts are kinda like the fight scene in "West Side Story" set to metal.

All of what is listed above is what happens. You can always sit down to watch the show. If there are seats of course.
