Within the last few decades alone we have made great leaps in technology, but we also have become much more violent. Our supposed history teaches us that we survived many potential extinctions, be it wars or some sought of global catastrophe. Some of our (physical/material) historical discoveries also displays evidence that we were technological advance in some ways, however, it also shows that we possessed savage tendencies. So, do you think we will ever supersede our rising tolerance for violence and insensitivities by growing into responsible considerate beings-enjoying their creations through prosperity? Or will we continue to be egoistical selfish minded creators of chaos on the verge of perhaps another self inflicted extermination? We have so much potential, so much awesomeness, I often wonder why we so blindly get in our own way. idk, What do you guys think?

I think that whatever progress we make in the future (technologically, scientifically ect) our selfishness and self-destructive behavior will grow at an equal rate. Both advancement and corruption are parts of our species.

Very low-power devices (though more functional than anything we have today) with most every home using solar cells, lots of natural interior lighting, products designed to produce the minimal amount of consumer waste, communal transportation, vertical and roof-top farms, etc.

Basically, making do with less. I think those people will look back in disdain at us greedy fvckers at the turn of the millinium and say "what asshats."

You kidding? We got old people born in like 190X still alive today in large numbers, and even larger numbers alive from each decade after...

A hundred years from now medicine might keep our worthless asses alive until we are 130, 140 even...

When I was a boy, I came upon two nuns making love in a cave. That kind of **** won't happen in the future.

but we also have become much more violent.bnarmz
I don't think that's true, is it? Back in the Medieval ages there were civil wars, genocides and religeous conflicts up the wazoo. Nowadays we have more destructive force sure, but we have built quite some structure in our society. We have entire continents cooperating together in the economy, war (peace) efforts, laws, safety, etc. Small scale we have social safety nets for the poor and homeless, drug treatments, healthcare, medicine, psychological help, more purpose and freedom for growth in life.. It can go either way I think. Escalating violence due to religeous, racial and economic unstability, or eventual domination of the entire planet by huge coalitions. I'm hoping for the latter.

You might want to go back a couple hundred years and then return to see if you're opinion on rising violence is true because I don't think so We were just less exposed compared to now which publicly release everything. We will always be egoistical and selfish minded and we will experiment with resources involving weapons however I don't think nothing will come to fruition but who knows some cultures and countries are stuck a thousand years in the past ethically. I think the technology will be amazingly evolved and communication possibly different but that's all I know. Our society and technology has progressed significantly in the past century however I think some people in the 50s got a bit ahead of themselves considering they thought we'll all have robot house maids by now.
