What do the rest of the world think of: Italy

This is basically a survey thread where people can post their opinions, critiques or simple thoughts about the current target nation. Of course, this might spark certain debates(healthy debates I hope and not just random flaming and trolling) which otherwise requires an open mind.

Resonably nice but there's really high unemployment in the south. Also the tourist's view really dosn't reflect reality, the tourist areas are all set apart from the real parts of the cities.markop2003

The south has always been like that though hasn't it? They've always hated Northern Italy for it too.

When I think of Italy I think of pasta, mafia and Alexandre Pato. Yes, he's Brazilian but he plays for A.C. Milan and he's really hot so whatever.

I really need to go over there and find my ancestors some day.

I toured Rome, Venice, Napoli, Pisa and Messina a few years ago and it was an amazing time. Italy has beautiful architecture and a cool history to go along with it. I would like to go back and visit Milan. That's where I hear Ferrari is headquartered. I don't know if I would like to live in Italy though because of how expensive everything is, though I guess that is the same for most euro countries. taylor888

Ferrari's HQs are near Modena, not Milan.

Think its been like that waaay before then.

All the cultured cities were in the north. The south and Sicily was all rural farmland and a very poor place to live.
