Out of the 8 Star Wars movie how would you rank them from best to worst?

Here's mine:

1. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

2. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

3. Rogue One

4. Episode IV: A New Hope

5. Episode VII: The Force Awakens

6. Episode III: Return of the Sith

The other 2 movies are dead to me

Technically speaking their was Clone Wars (the animated movie) as well.

Wasn't great either but the television series itself was very good

In general I like Jedi the most, it has issues, the middle part drags but the opening is great and the conclusion is fantastic.

Revenge Of The Sith is a movie with problems, but it's entertaining.

My nephew watches The Clone Wars cartoon when he's over. Are there more than one? Cause I recall him watching a Star Wars cartoon that focused on a young female Twilek but the one he's watching on Netflix now seems different and doesn't have that girl in it.

If we are talking live-action** movies:

1. Episode V

2. Episode IV tied with* Rogue One

3. Episode VI

4. Episode VII

5. Episode III

6. Episode I

7. Episode II

Empire is just the whole package; great story telling, amazing settings, good acting, Yoda, tragedy and triumph. I am happy I had Jedi to watch afterwards, I don't know if I could have handled the cliffhanger when the movie came out initially.

*Episode IV and Rogue One, while not a single movie, tie in together so perfectly I think they might as well be one movie.

**If we are including all the films and shows, I think Clone Wars (series) and Rebels are better than Episodes I-III

I guess im too young for Staw Wars, i didnt care for none of them. I guess the newest one is best, but i thought it was just average too. I never care about any of the characters, when they fight or die im just like...ok.

There are three Cartoons.

The first (2003) by the guy who done Samurai Jack Genndy Tartakovsky, these started off as shorts and expanded into more of a traditional show.

Loading Video...

Then Clone Wars (2008) with Dave Filoni that focused on the Twilek girl (Ahsoka) you're referring to. When Disney took over, they wanted to erase anything prequel related, so that show ended before arcs were finished.

Loading Video...

However, in the new Disney Show "Rebels" which Dave Filoni also helms, he brought over characters like Ahsoka, Clone Troopers as well as many other elements from both the Prequels and stuff completely written out when the expanded universe was erased.

Loading Video...

I imagine since Star Wars prints money there will be more, but it's in good hands with Dave Filoni.

Painful. I hate when shows don't get proper closure.

Jedi

Rogue

Sith

Clones

Empire

Force

Hope

Phantom

I liked all of them, actually.

I liked Books I to III because even the source books did not cover Darth Vader's origins that well, at least back in the 80's and 90's.

I put Rogue up there because I read about so many unsung heroes in the source books. Their own stories can rival the main ones.

I love the Star Wars franchise. A New Hope and Empire are at the top of my lists for favorite films in movies.

We'll see in time how Rogue One fares, but it hit a lot of good notes for me. Revenge of Sith is one I've always enjoyed more than I probably should. Return of the Jedi has some problems, as did The Force Awakens. And then you get the first two prequels to round it out.

You need to be pretty close to 40 years old or more to answer this in any kind of legitimate way.

As I meet that criteria I will give you the following facts.

Empire Strikes Back is the best and there is no contest. It's a fact.

A new Hope. It almost gets number one for being first and having the biggest impact and being so, so, great.

Return of the Jedi. Flawed but still a major part in the original trilogy and as much as the ewoks suck and rehashing the death star is lame, it still has the awesome Jabba's palace scenes as well as the dramatic Luke/Vader/Emperor stuff.

Then it gets close. Rogue One and The force Awakens are head to head and can't really be compared to each other as one is a continuation of the main story and the other is an aside. Still I'm thinking I prefer Rogue One over The Force Awakens but I like them both.

And then we have the prequels. Seriously, they are an abomination. All 3 are terrible and I refuse to rank them from least terrible. They don't exist! We are much better off if we pretend it never happened. All 3 get an F-. Totally unacceptable.

I will also add that the modern version of the original trilogy is garbage and you should seek out the despecialised edition. everything that was added or taken away was a terrible mistake.

I enjoy Empire more than ANH, but I believe ANH is a better movie overall.

All 7 movies were snoozfest. TNT/TBS showcased the 6 movies and I just couldn't get into it.

These new Star Wars are pretty much just as bad as Lucas' later offerings (if not worse), so I'm essentially done with SW movies. What Lucas lacked in competence, he made up for with heart. I'll continue to enjoy the games though ;)

Kind of tough to put them in order as I really enjoyed them all quite a bit. I guess I would list them as:

1. The Empire Strikes Back

2. Return of the Jedi

3. Revenge of the Sith

4. The Force Awakens

5. Attack of the Clones

6. The Phantom Menace

7. A New Hope

8. Rogue One

The prequels might have given a bigger impact had they been released a shorter time after Jedi rather than the sixteen years or so.

I haven't watched a Star Wars movie since the third prequel, and I don't recall any of them all that well at this point. I'll attempt to get back into them when I can convince my kid to watch them (he's still sore that they ended up replacing the Jurassic Park merchandise in the toy aisle).

Episodes V, IV & VI are my favorite.

Episodes I, II & III - all sucked aside from a few moments of light saber fights that were well choreographed.

Episode VII - horrible plot, was very forced and things didn't tie together well. There was very little character build and way too much flash. Kylo Ren, just as stupid as the older Anikan (from the Episodes II & III) , they're both very shallow/hollow and not played well by either actor. The obvious kill off Han Solo scene was poorly acted by everyone except Chewie, at least they can get his howl of anger to sound good and believable. Rey was just as bad. People have argued she's very "intune" with the force and she picked up on stuff because of her force power, blah, blah, blah....bullshit. She can't just magically be good at using the force without any training. Luke wasn't good with it until he got good training. Anikan wasn't good with it until he got training. Kylo should have mopped the floor with Rey and the movie should have ended there. Only reason I saw this movie was because my 7 year old daughter wanted to see it. Rogue One will be the same, daughter wants to see it.....more wasted time on a franchise that's lost it's direction and feels like it's only goal is to bring in money based on its fan base.

I enjoyed the Clone Wars animated series and even the movie more than I liked any Star Wars movie released since the original ones. At least the series was entertaining to watch and kept things entertaining. I can't say the same for Episodes I, II, III & VII

Gonna need to rewatch them all. I actually couldn't get into the earlier Star Wars movies (I'm guessing IV, V, and VI?). The only one I managed to watch from start to finish without losing interest was Revenge of the Sith (Episode 1 was another one that I managed to watch from start to finish but attempting to watch it again is pretty painful)....

1. Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

2. Episode IV: A New Hope

3. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

4. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

5. Episode VII: The Force Awakens

6. Episode I: The Phantom Menace

7. Episode II: Attack of the Clones

I didn't include Rogue One or the animated movie because I didn't see them yet. The Empire Strikes Back is easily the best and nearly flawless, it had everything that made Star Wars great. Attack of the Clones loses over Phantom Menace for the sole reason that TPM had Darth Maul, for the rest the movie sucked bad.

In my universe there is no such thing as the prequel trilogy. It has yet to be made by a competent team of writers and directors..... or myself, ive actually started rewriting the PT and personally i cant see it done in less than six episodes. So far i have four or five of the six outlined w/some detail.

Actually had they started doing more movies after ROTJ, chances are it would have been sequels and not prequels. One of the original outline's GL had was for a nine part series that actually would have had three more sequels that would have been fairly similar to the Dark Empire series (or at least the first series). GL actually said that the DE series (this was when it was only the first series, not 2 and Emperors End) was what he viewed as 7 and seemed to be on par with his own ideas for where the series would go. Of course he said this back int he early or mid 90s, so im sure things have changed since the.

The PT did have a big impact, i mean, they were some of the largest grossing movies of all time and helped to create a new generation (although confused about what SW is) of SW fans and up until the sale of LF was the focus of much of SW. Us older fans didnt like it for various reasons though. Everything from it being incompetent storytelling to things not matching up with the OT to things simply not making sense.

Whatever the case may be, whether Lucas did sequels or prequels within a reasonable time after Jedi, they would have been better than the garbage we received. Never did I think I would enjoy Rogue One much more than TFA. Maybe seeing three iconic characters well past their prime (as far as SW characters are concerned) is what did it in for me.

Depends.

ANH was the perfect example of creativity from diversity. It was made by a bunch of young, creative people starting their careers who all had a say and their creativity was allowed to thrive and grow.

ESB and ROTJ, Lucas himself had next to nothing to do with. He was the producer, which pretty much made him the paperwork, hiring and scheduling guy. As far as any creative elements or filming, he was not involved at all. He didnt write anything, he didnt direct anything, he didnt edit anything, etc. In fact he spent most of his time building up THX and ILM, as im sure he felt this was where the real money was at. But at the end of the day it was a similar situation to ANH but people have now grown and they brought in a new promising screenwriter was brought in (Kasdan). As a result, with all three movies magic ensued.

Then came the mess that was the prequel trilogy, a trilogy that ill mention again, i have attempted to outline and i cannot find a way to properly do it in less than six episodes as it was supposed to show the rise of a great jedi and then his fall to the dark side, with a decade long war going on as well. That said the real problem was George Lucas is very sensitive (and i suspect egotistical given it seems he wants full credit for SW) and when people said he didn't do a whole lot with the OT, he decided that he would do everything with the PT and he would prove everyone wrong by producing, writing and directing these fantastic movies (in his head). This is when TPM came out and the claims that he was a bad writer and bad director, were verified to the world and to himself. Because of his sensitivity he decided to ignore the people saying he needs to hand it over for episodes 2 and 3, and instead once again attempted to prove people wrong and instead he once again proved those people right, except it was a far larger base of people now saying this since ep. 1 had come out.

Aaaannndddd there we go, that's why the PT was trash. Because Lucas felt he could do everything all on his own when he was a fairly poor writer and director when he did it regularly as a younger man. But by the time he started the PT, he had not written or directed anything for decades and was far lazier than he was before.

As a little side story that i feel really sums up GL and how the PT went. There is a video on youtube of two ex-LF employee's who worked on TCW. They tell this story of an incident where they were at a meeting with Lucas and like a dozen other people going over the story board and details and one of them pointed out that something GL wanted to do contradicted the original trilogy. The second person verified this and they came up with an idea of how to fix it. They went into detail about how GL just stared at them and no one else would say anything, but then Lucas acknowledged it and moved on like it was nothing and they went about the day like it was any other day. The next morning they get to work and neither of their ID swipe cards work because they were fired overnight.

I enjoyed the Clone Wars animated series and even the movie more than I liked any Star Wars movie released since the original ones. At least the series was entertaining to watch and kept things entertaining. I can't say the same for Episodes I, II, III & VII

Agree very much, Dave Filoni didn't just adapt the Clone Wars, he pulled it out of the dirt.

With Force Awakens they pretty much rehash a New Hope beat for beat, while Rebels they connect Clone Wars and with it do original and far more interesting stuff.

These new Star Wars are pretty much just as bad as Lucas' later offerings (if not worse), so I'm essentially done with SW movies. What Lucas lacked in competence, he made up for with heart. I'll continue to enjoy the games though ;)

You are making a mistake by refusing to watch Rogue One.

From what I can tell, all the people who's movie opinions I've grown to respect don't like it, and the people who typically enjoy movies I dislike (comic book movies for example) seem to be a big fan of it. I honestly don't think I'm missing anything. It's just exploitative crap. Might as well be a fan novel or something.

Yep.. Also it's pretty amusing that the best Starwars Movie (Empire Strikes back) was the one movie of the original two trilogies that Lucas had the smallest amount of say in?

I really can't rate 1, 2, 3, and TFA as being better or worse over the others.. They are horrible in their own ways, each and every one of them.. If I had to put one as the worse it would have to be TFA because it marked the era where Disney jettisoned the EU in favor of their crap.
