- Religion is obsolete. The texts do not evolve, thus it becomes easier for thinking people to dismiss it.

Atheist Bigotry exist - 2014

Religion really is obsolete. The way people treat each other has nothing to do with religion. First of all, secular philosophy and the age of enlightenment had a huge impact of our thinking today; to treat everyone right etc. Also, its the say everyone has a mutual understanding that they are part of a system, a civicl society that NEEDS you "do right" or treat others right.

The holy books are very tribal, there is very little to do with a shared humanity. The books speak of "gods elect" meaning that only people who are in that religion are holy or get to go to heaven which is a load of crap. And don't bother responding by interpreting it the way you learned it because there are a hundred other interpretations that other people learned to.

While I'm not a religious person myself and I feel that the texts supporting each religion are not very relevant, people following certain religions are close-minded and a lot of individuals pick and choose which texts to follow in accordance with their agenda, it's not my place to trample the rights of people to believe or think how they so choose.

Therefore I pick 'Ideology'.

Yeah, only because it is the counter culture to the oppression that religion has done. One extreme often leads to another extreme. But in this case, at least atheist are more open to things (aside from tolerating religious people).

Suprisingly nowadays atheist are easily gets offended and can be extremely hostile and sometimes they hate see other people living in peace and they sounds like or even worst than al-Qaeda.

there's a lot of atheist in asia especially in china, they don't behave like bigots unlike their western counterparts. Western people makes atheist just like other religion.

Not to be confused with faith, I believe religion is a cop-out in today's society. Abortion is debated or illegal because "God said". Gays can't get married because of a vague quote from a book in the bible that, if one READS the bible, is made void later on. People are killed, enslaved, tortured and denied basic human rights because of religion. The twin towers were hit because of religious extremists.

And through it all, people use religion as an excuse to be terrorists, bigots, racists, homophobes, hypocrites and do and say all sorts of horrible stuff and do it all in the name of whatever deity they believe in.

Again, back to my original point, its a counter culture. Look at anything religious related in the past 100 years in America. People used the bible to subjugate blacks (slaves), women, and homosexuals, and other religions. Added to the notion that the USA is more of an industrialized nation than China, so with all that prolificness and power comes its beliefs and values that it can spread around.

Attacking crazy religious people is not an attack on all religious people. If you get offended by people pushing for secularism then you should really look closer at your own views.

Sort of hard, because 'religion' is a vague and broad word. Theism/deism is very likely true (certainly fulfilling inference to the best explanation), but religions are extremely diverse in how they view god. So to the true religion, 'awesome', and to the rest, 'tragic'.
