There are plenty of channels out there that are not what they used to be but the one that affected me the most was Animal Planet. It used to be full of shows and documentaries about animals that were entertaining and educational. Now it's just a bunch of "How I poked a bear in the ass and survived" shows. Since the death of Steve Irwin, it took a turn for the worst.

What other shows have taken a similar fall?

What say you, OT?

Cartoon channels. Current ones show crappy cartoons instead of showing good cartoons maybe even re-run classics

The Game Show Network.

They used to show tons of amazing, classic game shows. Now all they air are the crappy current day shows and their own less than stellar shows.

The History Channel - used to be about, well, history. Now it's about pawn shops, truck drivers, and fishermen. MTV - has become RTV (Reality Television).

This too! I miss all the classics. That was the only reason for watching.

Forgot about the History Channel. Remember when they had really awesome documentaries on World Wars, with thousands of hours of footage? And they were boring? And kids didn't want to watch them? Hardly "History" any more.... with Ghost Hunters and Pawn Stars. (I like Pawn Stars but come on.)

History and Game Show Network are good answers...MTV and VH1 are other obvious choices. Can't say I agree with AMC.

I agree that Animal Planet has gone WAY down hill.

I'll throw in Discovery Channel and the History Channel. Both of which went from showing interesting documentaries (my opinion, of course) to crappy reality shows.

Agreed on history channel. All those pseudo reality tv shows are dragging it down. MTV has been a lost cause since the 80's.

G4 happened.. They bought out TechTV, fired the people that everyone loved, and then expected everyone to like them for it. They dug their own grave...

SyFy definitely. They just said to hell with our loyal viewers, lets show wrestling and reality shows. And endless freakin' reruns of Ghost Hunters.

Christ, they even changed their name from Sci-Fi to SyFy so as not to sound so science-fictiony.

A&E is another one I just thought of. Now it's nothing but "watch this guy do his job"-type reality shows.

Used to have an Animax channel here, was pretty awesome too since it was mostly up to date with everything. It also declined into reality tv nonsense in the end and completely discarded any anime it used to show. I swear, reality shows are like the cancer of TV or something.

I think the Discovery Channel, as a child I remember watching the "boring" television which I found fascinating... But now, reality TV full of "Ironic" hosts, and the interesting stuff is always tinged with nonsensical scenarios... "But... WHAT IF A BLACK HOLE WAS RIGHT BEHIND US!!" Ugh, I mean I know it's put in there for the arrogantly interested, but it's just so lame to spend 15 minutes of the 45 minute block (not including commercials) theorizing about that crap.

The spelling bees only happen like once a year and what other channel would you put Poker on anyways? I don't showing 2 non related shows out of all the shows they show all day means that it has gone down in quality.

Sorry, couldn't come up with anything better. But to answer your question, poker could be aired on TNT or Spike or something. I also never agreed with putting WWE on SyFy. And I agree that reality shows on every channel is a bad thing. They just do it because it's cheap entertainment, though I'm not sure what makes them entertaining.

Definitely. If it wasn't for the fact that Mike Judge brought back Beavis and Butt-Head, I'd have no reason to tune in to that channel at all.

Fuse. They used to play good music, now half their programming is "Lady Gaga/Rihanna/bland pop artist takeover" or a crappy countdown consisting of mostly crappy music.

Definitely Animal Planet. I used to watch it like 24/7, Steve Irwin was one of the main reasons why, but that was when it was actually focused on wildlife. Now it is nothing but Animal Police shows, "Hey looks a cute dog or cat!" programs....and even paranormal bull ****.

My dad used to ban it from my house as well, but the moment he fell asleep, I'd sneak in the living room to watch it. The show's not for everyone, but it's funny enough for me to still tune in. Plus, with them tearing a new one to pretty much everyone on MTV's reality show lineup, it makes it worth seeing.

  • History

Up until like 2007 they showed actual history, not so much anymore. Now it's just conspiracy crap and reality shows that are vaguely related to history

  • Cartoon Network

Scooby Doo reruns make me sick, I'm not lying or being funny when I say that they have literally made me HATE Scooby Doo. And ir used to be one of my favorite Cartoons. All they have now is Regular Show and Adventure Time. I miss Toonami, only Cartoon Cartoons, and the classic shows.

  • Nickelodeon

Wow... they've become the complete opposite of 90s Nick. They now have a show about a talent High School, a show about a boy band( rolls eyes), iCarly(cringe) and no good cartoons that would even appeal to adults like the 90s Nicktoons did. They should be rename The Spongebob Channel.

  • MTV

Don't give me that crap about how they were only good in the 80s. MTV had some good stuff in the 90s. Real World when it actually served a social purpose, Beavis and Butthead(old), Daria, Liquid television, and Headbangers Ball. Coupled with the fact that they played more than pop, in the 90s and 80s. It was great. Now it's all reality shows and other trash. Beavis and Butthead new episodes are great and a sign of hope though. RJ Berger was okay, but they canceled that and basically replaced it with a femal RG Berger show.
